Default building a poormans type r.....what do you think.........

ok i have a fully built b16 head port n polished, std supertech flat valves, bronze valve guides, 3 angle valve job, blox valve springs and retainers with skunk2 stage 2 cams and skunk2 gears,rc 310's,skunk2 manifold, type r tb,type r header..now my block is a stock gsr untouched,110k....now do you think i can make enough compression to push stage 2's????what numbers do u think ill make??

note the cams are the regular stage 2's not pro series(i know there more aggresive)

you might want some itr pistons i would think at least, ie more compression. Placing a B16 head on a GSR block bumps your compression down, while flat faced valves would make up for the loss, your baisically looking at stock gsr CR with sk2 stg2 cams i dont think so but id like to hear more opinions also...

yea i do want to upgrade my block, but i wanna get a spare block and build it on the side so i can have a daily driver....thats what i m doin with my head..built it on the side and now its done........i just want to know how it wuld run with stock gsr compression....i was reading on here and a guy made 198 whp with a stock untouched gsr block with a built b16 head and a good tune....that s what kinda motivated me.....

you might want to step up to at least 11:5 CR pistons to yield the most power out of stage 2's

Sure 198whp on a stock untouched GSR block can be done, if it's been done before then i don't see why it can't be done again... u just need the perfect combonation of parts and knowledge to accomplish it.... I would say the most HP will come out from ur cylinder head, So i hope that u have a good ported head....

The built head is good but at 110K miles at a minimum you should freshen up those rings and get a new set of bearings, oil and water pumps. Stg2s in a gsr is a nice combination. New pistons would not hurt but that will require a hone.

Rolling down 95 "YES SIR" im looking for a cutie pie "YES SIR....I agree, around 110K, without redoing the short block, 198whp is imposible....You will probably be like " why am i not making 198whp when i have a $2000 dolla ported head, stage 5 cams and $1000 dolla header?? the answer will be "because u din't freshing up the short block.....

a bottom end in any build is key and should never be overlooked when looking to make power!

Hey bro, just get some RS Machines ITR pistons if your on budget, Great price for quality. Im running these pistons with blox spec b cams and currently waiting for block back from machine shop. I will let you know how it runs, but I heard good things about RS machines

What about p72 A00 pistons? Keep it oem and get 11:1 with with an oem head gasket. That's what I'm using, but my b16 head is stock for now.

friend of mine had similar setup pro 2's, flat faced valves, springs and retainers, portflow head P72, DC 4-1 with type r collector, 66k miles shortblock only made 177whp tuned with crome hope it sheds some light, compression will do it justice

Dang I just sold a GSR block... anyways...
replace the water/ oil pumps, bearings, belts, pistions rings... ect... and bumb up your comp. with some type R pistions and high compression head gasket sine you'll need a new one after you swap the pistons...

sounds like a nice daily driver when you're done with it...
