the line of cars that were towed off the track from CONTACT usually is as long as the entry list.

Make sure you dont care about dents...

EDIT: sorry.. Im an ***.. It is of my opinion that all the NASA events I witnessed here in No cali are so packed that there ends up ALOT of contact..

I saw the number of cars that were at Sears Point last time NASA was here...crowded track = . Plus I already signed up for Thunderhill on July 26th and can't really afford to do both right now.

if its crowded like you say it is. I'll probably just go to thunderhill on the 26th.

contact against the wall or contact with another car?! i've been to TONS of events with various organizations and car to car contact is extremely rare.

I did tons of NASA-NorthCal events back in 96-98 but haven't done one in the last two years. Our of about 20 events or so at NCal I've only seen 1 car-car contact. People crashing... that's another story. They have group leaders and require download sessions now, I'd expect they keep things in check. I ran twice with NASA-SouthCal this year and they were good. I expect the NCal to be the same. I guess I'll see next weekend... Ncal will be at Thunderhill.

If you're hungry for track time the best deal at TH in the near future is with Golden Gate Lotus Club. 7/5 Friday. $175 (or is it $150?) for 2 hour+ of track time.

There's also another cheap event $100 at Willow Springs big track. 8/9, also a friday. expect 2 hr+ track time too.

What's the minimum you should have when going to these events? I've never been to one before but would love to start. I'm guessing I need better tires than my RE730's so do most do beater wheels w/ R compounds or what? Helmet of course is a must. What class would one sign up for in these type of events?

Drive what you got. Just make sure you have new brake pads & fluid, and 50% of tires left. Upgrade later as you need to. Spend your money on track time first.

The best club for beginners is TCRA. It is also cheaper than NASA and more low key, less crowded, and less crashes. Also, it seems more Honda-Tech members.

since you are a beginner, just run what you bring. all you need is a helmet. street tires are no problem. I recommend staying with street tires until students have decent car control. As you start to hit intermediate speeds, it's time to get some track pads...

based on my experience, the best overall considering - quality of seat time, quality of instruction/instructors, and total seat time, atmosphere, TracQuest is the best value. http://www.tracquest.com/WillowSprin...ngsAug2002.htm not the cheapest, but it's worth it. you will get minimum of 2.5 hour of quality instruction/track time per day. Best track catering food too!

there is one coming up in Willow Springs in Aug.

from tracquest:
"You can enter for either Saturday or Sunday or both days. The discounted early entry fee for this event is $300 for one day or $500 for both days all‑inclusive if your entry form is postmarked by July 3rd, 2002, slightly more if later."

what is 'all-inclusive'?
i know it doesn't include hotel fare, but besides that it's just tracktime, instruction (if needed) and food right?

yshi - who hopes it includes a nice parting gift

They may be good, but too expensive. "The discounted early entry fee for this event is $300 for one day or $500 for both days all‑inclusive if your entry form is postmarked by July 3rd, 2002, slightly more if later."

Showboy! I had fun at the May10 event at BW, right Andy!? Chit was fun, also looked goofy when your car got crazy on the track!

Dents? Those drivers must be a bunch of ******** or something who cant wait to pass until a straight away. If you dent up on a straight away, then in my book, those guys are being too aggressive. Im actually thinking about going but if Im going to roll with my car all dented up, then Ill stay at home this time.
