broken spark plug
one of my spark plugs broke inside my head... only the threads are still inside the engine right now.. everything else came out....
now how am i going to take that "thread piece" out?, i know about the bolt extractor kits but they all seems so short? how is it going to reach so deep and stuff? never used one(or seen one) before..

OK show us a pic of the part that broke off so we can offer some advice. The way to get closest to it is to remove the valve cover first. Is your engine a SOHC or DOHC? If it's SOHC, you can remove the rocker arms and get even closer to the threads. There might be something sticking up which u can grab onto to get it out.
it's worst than the picture.. where u can put the socket on is broken out already.. only the trend part that screws on.
like all the trends and electrode (everything below the washer), washer is out though

Alright, before you start, get some RTV sealant to seal up the valve cover seals when you're done.
First remove the valve cover.
Next put the engine so that cylinder #1 is at TDC. This can be done easily by moving the crankshaft counter clockwise only! (NOT CLOCKWISE!).
Next remove the rocker arms. Follow the bolt tightening pattern in the manual.
This should give you the closest possible access to the sparkplug threads.
Now, the sparkplug should come out easily since there's nothing to hold it back in. I suspect you could put your finger in there and turn it out counter clockwise.
After you get it out, take a look inside the cylinder for anything else metallic left behind. You may want to rotate the engine again so that the piston is at the bottom of the stroke to get a better viewing angle. Maybe go to the parts store and get one of those magnetic probes. Hopefully the spark plugs are magnetic.
If there is something still in there, you might have to pull the head off. If it is really small, it might just blow out. I had a valve break on me and the piece must have went out the exhaust with no damage to the cylinder. This is entirely up to you.

i had his same problem! if it is similar to what happened to me, the porcalin part broke off the thread, so when i pulled my socket out, the thread was in the head and the porcalin and electrode came out in one piece. i took some elmers super glue (little metal pouch kind, really strong stuff) and put it around the porcalin part (wher it would normally come in contact with the thread) and stuck it in there. i let it sit for about 5 minutes, and LUCKILY i was able to pull the thread out because the glue was able to hold enough so that i could get the whole thing out. try this and see if it works before tearing the head off! let us know how it goes!

Happend to my camaro - pulled the 2nd bank's head off it and drilled it from the other side (didn't wanna hammer it out - didn't wanna damage the threads).
Though V8 heads are A LOT easier to take off than 4 banger heads - so I don't know if it's worth it here...

alright it's out..
bought a screw extractor set at harbor freight for 9 bones, hammered that thing into the spark plug and use a socket to fit over the square end of the extractor and turned it out.... that's the good part
don't know if the pressure from hammering and all messed up the trends any.. it's hard to turn the spark plug in now.. hopefully it won't be damaged but i did it slowly and put a lot of anti-seize
at least the car starts now.. thz all

you need to pull the head off to get the plug out. i did it beofre and i think that is the only way to get it out. pull the head out and bring it to a machine shop and they will take care of it
good info here i think, but guys in my opinion dont under estimate that hammering with the extractor kit. thats not optimal for the threads in there. if you think you got problems with the broken plug wait till you F up those threads.
