how to install a clutch?
Hey everybody, a friend of mine has a 1991 civic SI, and together we're going to install a clutch. i tried searching for this already, and all i turned up was either aftermarket issues or issues concerning hydro to cable, vice versa, and issues with bigger engines using different trannies. the clutch on this car is slipping to hell, so i think it needs a new one. any advice? i have never even messed with this type of stuff before. all i know is how to lift the thing up and turn wrenches, so the most details would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
thank you
Get yourself a haynes manual, they go through step by step.
Disconnect neg batt cable
Drain tranny
Remove axle nuts, remove ball joint nuts, separate spindles/axles.
Pull axles out of tranny
Remove bitch pin (do a search on this one, you'll probably need some help with that)
remove linkage
remove clutch cable
Remove any sensors/hoses etc bolted to the tranny
Remove VSS cable
Support engine
Place tranny jack under transmission
Unbolt transmission/motor mounts on pass side there
Unbolt starter and remove
Unbolt tranny from engine
Wiggle transmission off of engine and lower to the ground
I'm sure I skipped something, but that's the general idea. Once the trannys on the ground you can remove pressure plate and clutch, then put the new stuff in and put it back together.

Pretty much the best advice anyone will be able to give you over the internet.
Give yourself all day to do it since its your first time. It will be a pain in the ***...but as long as you have the right tools you'll be able to get it done.
