Default VSS question

Ok, i have a question the hopefully won't take too much to figure out. I did try to search for answers, but haven't come up with anything. I have a 90 if that i had swapped a gsr into. Long story short i am now putting in a built d in for boost. When i had my gsr in, i swapped a gsr cluster in my car. Everything worked great but now that i'm going back to d, i need a VSS that will fit my 91 d series si trans. The one from my gsr won't fit and i got one from an eg and that one doesn't fit either. Its too big and hits the case where the diff is. Any help would be appreciated.

So you have the electric VSS? The stock one if your running a cable clutch is found on any cable D series car, so just go take that one from a junk yard.

Sorry if the first post isn't clear, jumbled thoughts. I have/had an electric speedo in my car when i had my GSR, so all the wiring is done. I need to know what VSS do i need to fit my d series trans. The one from an eg hits the side of the diff case. I did a little more research and think that one from a 96-00 civic will work. Can someone comfirm that?

are you sure you're not turning it the wrong way?

B series and D series electric VSS units are interchangeable.
