Default crower 403's or 404's?

I have a LS and am looking for cams...I know the 404's need valve springs and retainers where as the 403's don't.

I am looking for a daily driver with more mid and top end but as cheap and as soon as possible. I am also open to other cams but it is a stock block LS (for now).

aiight, 403s would be your best route if you want a fast bump in HP in the mid-range and top end.. I know because i've been running them for 2 years now on my daily driver, which i take to the drag strip every once in a while.. Ive had no problems, with it at all and the cam is a very responsive around 4000 to redline.. It would be your cheapest route seeing that you are not really lookin into upgrading your valve train right away..

404s on the other hand will give you a bigger bump in HP but as you said you will need dual valve spring and retainers..

Either cam you decide to go with you would get more out of them if you bumped up your compression by throwing in some B16 pistons so would be in the 11.2-5 range..

Hope that helped..

im running 404's right now. you will need a higher cr and other goodies to help your engine breath but 403 will be a good start.

I have a good intake and header with a GSR TB... I may just buy a Vtec head after running the 403's for a while

what 1/4 mile times have you accomplished with these cams? What is the rest of your setup?

Best time was a 14.7... since then its been consistant 14.9-15.0.. Its a pretty fun lil motor, lays the smack down on B16s and beats GSRs with minor bolt-ons

My set-up
Stock port B18B
Crower dual valve spring w/ Ti retainers
Crower 403s
B16 pistions shot peened to LS rods
ARP head studs and Rod bolts
CTR header
BLOX intake manifold w/ stock throttle body
Password JDM power chamber intake

Tuned with Crome Pro put down 154whp and 128tq...
