Default ecu tuning?

Has anyone (hytech, hondata, etc) had a chance to crack the ecu for tuning purposes yet?

the damn vtc really retards timing at certain areas across the band, and im sure there is a way to rid or improve this. i know the main purpose honda used the vtc is for emissions/economy, but id really like to see it do something usefull.

any comments?

Good question. I've been trying to figure out how VTC works too. The shop manual I have would indicate VTC is mearly a function of oil pressure, which is RPM related. Not much knowledge out here about how VTC REALLY works.
