Default Help with a brake problem

The other day i was driving my car to work and parked. I pulled up my E brake and the lever went up much higher than usual. When i drove home that night it felt like my e brake was still on but i had put the lever down. When i got out my back tires smelt of burnt rubber. What could be the problem and how to fix it. thanks

Yea, doesn't sound like a very good "starter" project for a person with limited car knowledge. Just make sure to take it to a shop that you know will treat you right.

I hate shops and people touching my car. /rant.
