Possibly the cat getting clogged. A buddy's car lost almost all power, pulled the exhaust pipe off after the cat, revved it up, blew what was the entire inside of the cat out on the garage floor.

Well it generally only happens on older/high mileage stuff, but I'm not sure exactly what causes it. Basically the cat is an extra igniter that ignites any harmful gases that were created in the combustion process before they get out in the air. It contains certain substances, like platinum, that act as a catalyst to burn the harmful gases. As far as I know just over time of burning up these gases the deposits build up inside the cat and eventually "fall down" like a dirty chimney.

I think the only way you're going to confirm it is to disconnect the exhaust right behind the cat and check things out.

Naww that = loud and ricey.

My friends car was boggin and VTEC wasn't crackin on his EK w/ a GSR in it, and it turned out his cat was clogged and was causing all this. He got a greddy sp2 and a high flow cat and the problem was solved.
