I have an 01 Type R and every time I come home from driving my ITR, I get out, I grab the top of the door to shut it and I get shocked. Does anybody else have this problem? I used to own a 99 Gsr and I don't think I ever got shocked closing the door.

 

i don't have itr, but i used to always get shocked when i try to shut my door prolly cuz of i rub against the seats when i try to get out

but b4 u get out of your seat, open the door and put your hand on the metal part of the car, then get out... the shell of the car acts as a ground for the static electricity thats in your body

 

It's the combination of your clothes and seat fabric. The Recaros don't have this problem!!!
There are two ways to prevent getting a shock.

1 - Discharge yourself after getting out of the car by holding a metal (like keys) and touch something unpainted metal part of the car with that piece (key).
2 - Before you step out of the car touch some unpainted metal part of the car and get out while touching that metal part (like screw in the door handle).

that's exactly what i do.. i touch the outside of my car and get out of the car while my hand is still touching the metal part. When I'm fully out and shut the door, I let go and touch it again to make sure and it works......

I get shocked all the time. In my car and in my boyfriends gsr. It hella sux, cause like I will get out of my car and go to give him a hug, and BOOM I shock him too

if you live in a dry place where there´s a lot of dust then it´s very normal..

and actually, when we raced.....his car was faster than mine

 

Is that because he has mods or that you can't drive as good as him?

A little bit of both...LOL....(actually, it was because I loved him so much and I didn't want to make him look lame in front of his friends) ahhahaha j/k

When we raced, I was bone stock. On top of that, my launch sucked We haven't raced since then, and the only mods I have now are I/h and vafc. If I get my launch down, I am sure I can beat him.

 

i get that everyday, so now i close the door by pushing the window, and you can see a lot of marks, and since i don't discharge to my car anymore, it happens when i open my office door. so i basically get rid of the charge by knocking back of my hand to the door **** every morning. the palm of the hand has a lot of sense nerve, so it would hurt more

 

All Hondas are like this... My old Accord used to shock the snot out of me, same as the Integra. Regardless of season/weather conditions

I don't think it was as bad when I had the Sparco in there, but I can't remember.

Even though I didnt know I always grabbed my shifter last. So when i get out It seems I dont get shocked.


I tell the other people that either my car doesnt like you or they need to put all their spare change in the ashtray.
