96 civic dx 5 speed. Swapped new engine. Just direct replacement d16y7 (no $$ for better motor but lets not get into that). So i go to start it with no luck. End up finding out its getting no fuel. (Unscrewed the pressure relief on top of filter). So i thought hey maybe clogged filter. So buy a new one. No luck. So maybe bad main relay. Buy new one. No luck. Maybe bad ecu. Buy a new one. No luck. So maybe bad fuel pump because its not priming. So guess what? Bought a new one! Can ya guess what happens?!?!? NO LUCK!!!! So yeah im close to blasting myself a new mouth in the back of the head. (not really but just that pissed). Ive dumped crazy money in the car so i cant just abandon it now and i dont what to do now. ALL help WILL be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes i checked to see if i had spark but like the post said im not even getting any fuel through the filter let alone to the rail so yeah even if i did have spark (which i do) it wouldnt do **** for me. No fuel=no run. Pump isnt even enaging (priming).

 

Sounds like you got yourself a tricky one.
Have you checked to make sure you have all the grounds on the harness down tight? Often times the answer turns out to be something as simple as that.

 

how about instead of just throwing money at your car with new parts and having no clue on how anything works, maybe you should find out why the fuel pump is not working. did you check for power, the wiring, the main relay, the ignition switch, battery etc etc...

does the motor even have compression, I helped my friend install a blown motor with no compression from a junk/**** yard, did a compression test, 0 0 0 0

 

did u check the ECU fuse in the engine bay??

 

Check the grounds by the thermostat housing those will cause ur pump not to engage

 

ok ej6 mike- where would all the grounds be? I havnt messed with electrical too much so im fairly new to the ground locations. A full list would be much appreciated/ and pics if at all posssible. Very well could be.

sicones- im not a dumbass, im not just throwing money at it like i have it to waste. Im doing what i can from what i know. If you reread the post I REPLACED THE MAIN RELAY, the car comes on and turns over I just am not getting fuel. Obviously because the fuel pump isnt engaging. Regardless if the motor has compression or not fuel would still come out of the pressure release valve on top of the banjo bolt on the fuel filter.

Chuisek-which one would that be? I think I already checked it but I cant remember off the top of my head which it was.

 

check your fuel pump fuse under your steering wheel.

thermo housing grounds huh? Thats a possibility. Uh lol....could someone show me where they are? I mean i know where the housing is but is it obvious when u look at it?

 

which one is the fuel pump fuse? I was told b4 on here that there isnt a fuse per say but an intergrated fuse in the main realy i.e. u replace that vs. replacing a fuse.

 

no, there is an actual fuse. its a 10 amp fuse located under in the fuse box under the dash. It one of the ones that's off to the side and on a raised plane to the main three columns of fuses. I had the exact same problem one day and checked all the same things you did. I used a check light to find out that there was no power going to the fuel pump, and the main relay was not activating. The fuse completes the circuit to activate the main relay I believe. good luck

this happened to my friend at the track this weekend.. deffenitely check that!

 

I would absolutley love to do that but theres this thing $$$$$$ that i dont have. Plus no truck or trailer to get it to a mechanic.

yeah like an 1/8th of a tank. Just curious though if say idk all the gas went to one side of the tank (dont ask) when i turn the key would the pump still try to prime? Like even if there wasnt any gas? There is but just wondering if it would.

 

... if there wasnt any gas, it would continue to pump untill itll burn out. wouldnt recomend doing that...

i checked them visibly but not with a probe
