no doubt man but forgive me if this section gets far more traffic. paint color should pertain to appearance and cosmetic i think? good looking out. i hope i dont get flamed. lol
I'll try and dig up my results from the original 50 dollar paint thread....I only did the 2 fenders on my sol but with the right amount o wetsaning it came out pretty damn nice for the 35 it cost me
found it....I did the roll on method, took me about 2 days for the 2 fenders(including waiting for each layer to dry before I wetsanded)

looks pretty decent for a broke college kid when before it was about 1/2 scratched up GBP and primer
</TD></TR></TABLE>
products I used:
-interlux brightside marine paint(more durable than rustoleum)
-Cheap small dense foam roller from harbor freight
-LOTS of sandpaper( 220 machine, 320 then 400 for prep and starting @ 800 up to 2K for wetsanding)
steps:
prepped surface with a machine sander using 320
primed it with a filler primer and then did a mist coat of a different color primer
blocked it out with 400
rolled a layer on
waited 1-2 hours
wetsand with 800
rolled a layer on
waited 2-3 hours
wetsanded with 1K
rolled a layer on
waited 2-3 hours
wetsand with 1500
rolled a layer on
waited 2-3 hours
wetsand with 2K
polished/buffed (with a VERY cheap buffer)
not bad for less than 40 bucks and certainly better then extremely far off mismatching colors(they were a few various colors(grey, white, green and red) of primer before)

wow. looks good. i have a flat gray eg hatch right now and i'd like to do a complete color change inside and out. i could strip the car interior out in minutes and paint everything. where do you get that interlux briteside paint at
Trending Topics
the hardest thing is mixing the paint with the right amont of mineral spirtits and then of course wetsanding is VERY labor intensive
