i wanna remove the plate that covers the headers on my 94 ex vtec.i see two blots that seem like they are holding it on.if i take those bolts off, that removes only the plate, not the header right?

It's actually 3 screws. They only hold the heat shield against the exhaust manifold.
Now, why would you want to do that to the stock manfold (not "headers"... it's called: exhaust manifold!!), the part you are talking about it's "heat shield" for a very specific reason..... you're not going to make any HP from that, and won't look any better either.

That "plate that covers your headers" keeps the heat from your exhaust manifold from reaching the rest of the engine. Youre better off keeping it on, you wont gain anything from taking it off.
