Default Knock when moving off and braking

recently i have been hearing a slight knock when i move off and then again i hear it when i brake and come to a stop. I thought it was the Caliper moving so i jacked up the car and checked everything but nothing was loose.

while under there i held the wheel and started to rotate it and there it was. It sounded like it was coming from the differential and it is happening with both wheels.

Would it be the differential gone bad or just the part where the inboard joint's splines mesh with the diff?

any ideas?

***EDIT *** both axles have some play when i rotate them by hand b4 they mesh with the diff, when they mesh is them i hear the knock .( the knock comes fromo them meshing) is that the way it suppose to be?

Also everyone tells me the car has an LSD, it always leaves 2 solid lines, when i accelerate in a corner it pulls the car around with minimum understeer, if any at all. BUT then i jack up the car and spin the wheels with the car in gear one wheel spins in one direction and the other in the opposite, that doesnt sound LSD to me, am i correct? anyway else to tell? ***EDIT***
