Default GSR block, P30 pistons, resurfaced GSR head. Claying necessary?

Is claying always necessary when putting together a GSR block w/ P30 pistons and a resurfaced GSR head?
Heard stories of some builds working perfectly fine and some w/ valves hitting, both never clayed.

depends on how much "resurfacing" was done, the kind of cams you're using and where your cam gears are set.

I think they took off the minimum mill, .030? Stock GSR cams for now. Toda Spec A2's later. IDK where to set the cam gears. Stock settings.
And I also heard or read that you're supposed to retard the distributor 2 degrees w/ higher compression pistons. True?
Need your help. Thanks.

It is a fair amount and M2S~Jaime will have to find out how much exactly in order to know where to set the cam gears, to correct for the milling. I wouldn't really worry about your valve to piston clearance, but I would want to know about the head milling etc. You want to be able to "zero" the cams when you install them so you'll be able to adjust them properly when tuning.

Ok.
I'll get back to you about the milling. And I'll be using an OEM head gasket.
