i have a ek hatch and i just dropped a ls-v
b16 head stock ls bottom..golden eagle head studs
ls head gasket KMS oil sandwich....

i started it and was fine.
then i went to fill gas and started smoking the load...
i drove it and it only puffs smoke once and a while butt sometimes is shoots a cloud of smoke.
i did a compression test and its around 180 on all cylinders im thinking its valve seals..
i just needed a second opinion... mahalos

 

Does it smoke all the time, just at idle, just at full throttle? I helped a friend do a ls-v, which he just threw together. I think his rings were shot b/c it smoked like a bitch.

 

well not all the time some times is doesnt and some times it does... at idle some times it puffs smoke and sometimes it doesnt... i drove it and some times is smokes and some times is does

 

Valve guides will smoke at idle, deaceleration, and when taking off from a idle. Bad rings smoke under load.

 

What kind of smoke? white smoke? does the smoke feel steamy to the touch? Smell funny like antifreeze? Have you checked the oil to make sure its the right color and consistancy? Is it milky?
These are indications of a head gasket if you can answer yes to most of these.

This will only diag blue smoke (burning oil) conditions.
