Most people use Mobil 1 synthetic or genuine Honda oil. Ballers use Royal Purple or AMS.

it all depends what you want..

i don't like synthetitc because later down the road if you go boost synthetic breaks down to easy and faster then regular oil and once you go synthetic you can't go backwards from synthetic back to normal oil.

i use castrol gtx and a higher weighted oil like 10w instead of 5w.

10W and 5W 30 have the exact same protection as each other except you will have easier start ups with 5W. If you want thicker oil use 5W 40. K series seems to love to burn mobil 1 oil. Right now I am using Greddy 5W30 oil. It works great, doesn't use a drop.

Youre using Greddy (GR-3) 5w-30 with a turbo kit? I thought they made an oil specifically for turbo applications, I think its the GR-1 10w-60.

They do, 5W 40 is made for turbo applications, 5W 60 is for high hoarse power applications. 5W-30 (vtec and high reving applications) is what they recomend from the factory and I have no issues running it even with the turbo.

let me rephrase this so i didn't confuse anyone because the way i said it. I use 10w-30 because it does not "thin" faster then 5w-30 not the viscosity break down as you said they are the same. Just like turbo'd cars a lot of people will use 20w-30 or 40 (can't remember, i just remember it has red cap) so it doesn't "thin" faster if you put 5w or 10w-30 and come out like pea soup.

You can switch back to dino oil at any time. You cannot add dino oil to synthetic or vice versa.

My daily driver 97 civic was broken in on dino oil then switched to mobil1 until 130k miles. I switched back 40k miles ago and have no leaks or oil usage. Ever see some civics with the entire block/header is covered in motor oil? Well mine isnt one of those.........
