PPG Shopline... its the cheaper paint by PPG i was going to use the more expensive paint but there is no need to because i was painting the whole car. If you are going to paint only panels than you want to use a better paint by PPG so it blends correctly. Also i waited about 20 minutes between base coats over night for clear and then 30 mins in between clear coats.

1 quart of primer sealer
2 quarts of base for painting the car
I bought an extra quart yesterday just to do some touchups
1 Gallon of clear
Reducer
Hardener

Whole paint project cost me about $250 after buying sandpaper and everything

I plan on (this is to both my fenders and drivers door that i just got replaced silver, my car is black)
1.) Wetsanding the car with like 320 grit or somthing...
2.) apply primer
3.) base coat
4.) wetsand again with (grit???)
5.) probly a few more coats...

Would you recommand any dry times?

What to look out for and fix's?

How much wetsand you need'ed?

Thanks

i am going to be doing my first FULL paint job and some body work on saturday/sunday. what me and my friends dad(who owns a bosy shop) are going to do are blend the quarter panel rust repair panels/rockers, apply filler sand filler, remove all other dings on the car, apply urethane primer/sealer, wetsand with 500, wax/grease remover, then tack it and lay 2 base coats, 20 mins in between coats he says, then 2-3 coats clear with an hour between base/clear and 15 mins between clear coats, then wetsand buff only if i sprayed it on too dry.

wow that seems like a lotta orange peel for a spray job. I don't have any experiencing with spraying. I rolled on my paint and it has orange peel just like your car...but thankfully that can be gone by wetsanding like you did.

Looks nice now!

he sprayed it on too dry( too fast)

i just spray with half the speed of spraying base coat and overlap 25%, works well, nice, slow, and even, takes some thinking and concentration to get it right

Did you sand off all of the old red paint? Or did you primer on top of it?
