Honda wants out? What you mean? If anything they want "in". They're pushing for 4 stroke rules because they have no interest in 2-strokes and 2-stroke technology does nothing to advance street technology.
Either way I think its a stupid idea for many reasons. For one, mandating production 600's means only 4 manufacturers can supply engines, three of whom are not involved with the class now at all and have expressed zero interest in getting involved. The idea is for boutique chassis manufacturers to build bikes around these engines but where are these chassis makers going to come from? There are only three or four independent chassis builders that I can think of right now who might be able to do this and two of them have gone under from financial trouble (Harris/WCM and Ilmor). Team KR and Moriwaki might be able to do something but I don't know that it would be great for the sport.
I've said it elsewhere but when I asked Kenny Sr about he thought the engine formula should be, he said it should be a spec class. That way we won't have to worry about who has the good equipment and who doesn't and what appeases one manufacturer and pisses off another. Quite frankly I don't really want the manufacturers doing major battle in the support classes because that's money that should be in the premier class.
Besides, we already have a 600 cc world championship.

Actually if they absolutely have to go 4 stroke I'd like to see a 450 cc and 250 single or twin formula for the two classes. Whether the rules are open or spec there are plenty of manufacturers who make engines in that size (Aprilia and KTM included). It would also make for some interesting sounding engines that would be really cool if there were street variants. We already have 600's, I'd like to see something different.

Same, most everyone is already making one of those two options
