Default Long block vs Short block

So this is a little bit of a noob question. But what are the differences between the two?

Long block consists of the head plus block, and the short block is just the block...

long block is an older motor.
short block is a newer motor. there is a specific range of years they made each.

Not only did you spell "wrong" wrong, but you completely made the rest of it up.
Sounds like.....

The short bus is what you take to school.

Oh, boy.

From my days of working with American motors (almost everyday) a short block would include the block, usually assembled with the entire rotating assembly, the oil pump (in some cases) and the oil pan (in some cases). A long block includes the aforementioned parts, plus the head(s) and valve covers in some cases. I have seen long blocks that come with an intake manifold and accessories (such as the distributor, water pump, etc...), but these are often referred to as crate motors as well. I hope that helps.

a rong brock is when one take arm, extends out to brock a punch,

a short brock is when one take arm, no extend, to brock a punch....now go wax on and wax off.....

ok ok...I'm just kidding.... myfirstdc2 pretty much hit the nail on the head. Not everyone sells a "long block" motor with the dizzy, alternator, etc etc.......I've seen a few friends receive supposed "long block" motors where they had to scavenge at a junk yard to complete it .........
