Which Cams is the best??
ok guys.. i've been thinking about upgrading my cams to aftermarket ones but not sure which one is the best to go with.
i have an jdm gsr motor with H/I/E and an skunk2 intake manifold. i was thinking about going with the Skunk2 Pro-Series stage 1 cams or either the Buddy Club Spec3 cams, which one would make more power?
also wanted to know, anything i should do to bump the compression up safely? i was thinking changing the valves and head gasket, what kind of head gasket should i get to bump the compression up? or should i just change ctr pistons since they're really cheap, but i have heard ppl say that ctr pistons bumps up a LOT like 12:5 or even 13:1, but a shop locally have told me that if i was to install ctr pistons for my gsr, the compression will only go up to about 11:5, that true?? please help me out guys!

i think b16 pistons would be the best best, b16b aka ctr pistons in a gsr yield a pretty high c/r that i dont believe is very street able without proper octane or pulling butloads of timing which would defeat the purpose.
Your shop is mis-informed. If you install CTR pistons, you compression will be much higher then 11.5:1. I think it would be around 13.5:1 but don't quote me on that. Anyway, as for your cam selection, the first question you have to ask yourself is what is...your intended use? Street strictly? 1/4 mile? Circuit?
My personal choice would be BC3+. They will give you more mid-range power and overall more power under the curve. Not to mention, the throttle response on those cams are unmatched. Even the Bc4's cannot compare in that aspect.

CTR pistons, assuming stock headgasket and non-milled head will yield a compression ratio of 12.0:1. You would probably be better off with something a little less aggressive. USDM B16 pistons or JDM ITR pistons will be around 11.4:1.

Then again, why go there when we can just make up numbers and throw them out? That seems to be what most people go with.

hmmm ok i'll probably be going with the skunk2 pro stage1 cams with skunk2 valve springs and retainers. what kind of head gasket is good to bump up the compression a bit? and also i'm thinking about getting the skunk2 high compression valves to bump the compression a bit too.
what if i don't change any pistons, will i still make pretty good power with the skunk2 cams?
