Test drove a WRX today, my impressions..
Well it was pouring rain today, and I went to visit an old friend at Holler Honda here in Orlando. Right across the street is a Subaru dealer so I said to myself let me go see if they got any WRX's on the lot. Sure enough they had about 6 of them in all different colors. I got out of my car and started checking them out, I especially like the maroon color. So anyway this salesman comes up and says his usual deal, I interrupt him and said look man I'm not buying just checking them out, but can I get a test drive? The dude says yea I'll be right back with the keys..
I was like cool!!
So a few minutes later he comes out pulls the car out and tells me to get in the drivers seat. I get in the car and its larger than I what I thought it would be on the inside, lots of space, enough for 4 people. Larger people/taller people wouldn't be so comfortable in the back but its definitely roomier than my car's back seat.
So I take her out of the lot and start driving her. The feels rock solid, suspension felt really tight I liked that. It also has good torque down low, you don't have to rev the **** out of it to get it moving. By the way I was driving with a 250 lb dude in the passenger seat with the A/C on and the car didn't feel like it was bogged down at all. The seats were very comfortable and the tranny shifted very smoothly. The clutch was baby soft, I love that.
Now to the good part: Remember I said it was pouring right. I said to the salesman, do you mind if I get on it some? He was like no problem and also you can drive it as long as you like. I was like alright then..
I start testing out the waters by dumping the clutch at like 3500 just to see what it feels like. The car had absolutely no wheel spin and almost bogged cause the all wheel drive hooks so good. I practice again at higher rpms and still no wheelspin, I was friggin amazed. Finally I said alright I'm gonna let her have it, btw, I didn't want to dump it at 7k and possibly break the tranny, but I wanted to feel the awd.
I dumped it at 5500 in the rain and that car had a hint of wheelspin and then lurched forward hard. This car pulled good even with the dude and the a/c on!! I tested the handling by driving on some slick twisty s-turns the car felt like it was on rails. I was definitely convinced this a quality car and I would definitely consider it if I had 25 grand. I think its a great investment.
Now just imagine if you did some simple bpu's with this car, instant 12 sec machine on street tires!!!
I could go on and on but I just wanted to share my experience, I'm giving this one a double thumbsup!
Sorry if my grammar is kinda whacked I am not an english major by no means..
No flames please.

coo man you got lucky I went to test drive one and the sales guy got scared when I got into it a little saying dont break it and what not
but I managed to do a full circle in it at RIVERSIDE Auto mall heheeh they have these streets that are devided by circle so you can go down either of the 4 directions and I chose all of them car was on rails and almost got a slight dirft
Sales guy got real mad and yelled and told me to take it back. I think he soiled the seat

I always found my friends to be fun in low traction onditons and for doin four wheel drifts, but all in all I don't think I'd rush to trade my R for one.
They would be an awsome late-fall, winter to early spring car though.

This sales guy was really cool, he was like if you want , lets go to an open parking lot and you can do whatever you want with it. This car was brand spanking new too!
I personally think this car is a better platform to start with, but it is a matter of opinion. I can definitely say the Subaru engineers did their homework. The car really feels like all you have to do is point it in the direction you want and it will go there no matter what the weather conditions are!

I test drove a WRX the day before I bought my S2000 and I was impressed. I loved the low end power also but I didnt like the turbo lag when you get on the gas after a shift. I only got a chance to take it around the block so I wasn't able to take do any cornering to feel the suspension or AWD.
Lloyd~who was happy with a small taste of the WRX!

what on earth do those acronyms in your WRX sig mean? I got manual boost controller, and the greddy exhaust gas temp guage, but what about the others?

His name was Cass. He's a big oriental guy, very nice guy, real cool too. Heh tell him Jeff Kaplan sent ya, the guy that drove in with the blue/green Integra with the white rims today that test drove the maroon WRX in the rain. He'll remember!
