whats your ultimate goal?
ill recomend either a cc ____________ insert stage here
or an exedy. either one to hold the torque you are making and youll be good to go .

Perfect thread. I was about to post the same thing. I have been researching this non stop. I am shooting for 600 whp even, nothing more nothing less. Seems like I am right in the middle between clutch cut offs. Most will say to get a twin disc. But I only want to make a few runs on the dyno at 600 whp so i think its over kill. Especially if it will be daily driven at 400 whp. So I think I have decided on the ACT Maxx Extreme 6 puck sprung clutch which is rated up around 487tq. Seems like the stage 5 which is the best clutch out there besides the twin disc will start slipping at 525-550ish. That might be the best one for you unless you want room for improvement, in which case for a few bucks more get the ACT. Anyone who wants to chime in with personal experience on the ACT Extreme, or the Competition stage 5 please do.
wow. thanks for all the quick responses. I'm going to do a little more research, but the act pressure plate is looking good. I am going to call zoom tomorrow to see what the pressure plate load is on mine and compare to others.
thanks again guys.
until I get the new clutch, I am just going to have to run 12 psi(which doesn't slip) :-(

486 tq, not bad for a single.

If your doing hard launches, burnouts, actual racing. puck style clutches arent going to hold with that much power. we've learned our lesson in the past with that. it may hold for a bit. but not consistently. you'd be lucky that it just slips and not break discs with that much power.
im kinda in the same boat. Im wanting 400-450 daily on the street. And in the 600whp range a few dyno pulls and maybe once or twice at the track. I already had a clutch specialties 6 puck sprung. So I contacted LSD motorsports and they assured me my disk with their extreme pressure plate will hold fine. So thats what im going to try out.
For 500+whp I recommend the Competition Clutch Stage 5 with upgraded pressure plate, contact me on great pricing if interested. Or you can get a Competition Clutch Twin Disc if you plan to run it at the track alot

competition stage 5 here... unsprung..
493/340 at the start of the summer..
Launched hard with slicks
daily driven at 430/300+ and never ever had a problem...
Im not using the upgraded PP, but i would suggest it if you are shooting for much over 500

Comp Stage 5 here also. has the best pedal feel ever. my friend that has a ACT clutch drove my car and asked how my stock clutch was holding up to that much power. cc gets my vote for one of the best clutchs
Competition Clutch Stage 5 w/ upgraded pressure plate here... pedal is stiff, but i like it.. you get used to it right away. and its very streetable. you just can slip it much, but who does that haha.
