I have a 97 prelude and my front bumper is chipping like there is no tomorrow. Along with my hood.

Are these two fixable or do they have to be replaced? The reason why I am asking is because I brought it to a local body shop and they said to replace them both.

Anybody have any input on this?

i wouldnt say replace, but repaint is definitely necessary

 

Replace them? Why not just re-spray them?

I wanted to prep the car before I brought it in to save some money on labor.

When I searched on how to prep I found numerous topics, but each had different answers.

What would be best to fix the chipping on the front bumper on the hood with regards to sandpaper grit.

Also I wanted to prep the rest of my car. The rest of the body is still in great condition. What are the usual steps on wetsanding and prepping for a respray?
