Default Is OEM honda alarm any good?

I assume these have just basic features. Am thinking of getting one just for the plug and play aspect. Do they have the blinking LED? Anyone got any comments on these? I have a 2000 Si with an Alpine that is going to **** on me and stopped working.

The OEM alarm does not have a blinking LED from the factory but it may be possible to add one.

Also, the stock alarm provides no shock sensors to feel if the car is being shaken or moved. Only when the doors are opened while locked/armed will it go off.

It is better than nothing but an aftermarket alarm is highly recommended!

Thanks, that helped a lot. Might look into another brand now.

also i think an AU94tm (motion or proximity sensor) would be a good idea because it will warn people away who approach within 3-4 feet before they smash a window or something.

What Alpine alarm do you have?
What is wrong with it?
How is it installed and by whom?

Alpine alarms are very dependable unit's, it would not surprise me at all if it is an installation problem.

The stock Honda alarm is a very basic unit and not worth the money or effort to install. 94

I have the SEC 8049 I believe it is. I installed it. It had been working fine for months, no problems other than the radar unit seemed too sensitive. It would go off for no reason, especially on an over cast day which seemed strange. Then in last month the range of the remote started going down and down until it barely worked. I would have to hold it right by the windshield to get it to disarm or arm. I put a brand new battery in it and it didn't help. Then one night it would not disarm and I was stuck. I had to open the door with the key and the alarm went off. I then disarmed it with the remote. While driving home the doors kept unlocking over and over again, all the way home. After that I couldn't get the alarm to arm any more. Even if I was in the car with the remote a foot from the brain. I pulled the fuse and have not been using it. Just using my keyless Honda entry remote with no alarm for now. Paranoid, don't go anywhere now. It is a fucked up world we live in, having to remain in a constant state of fear.
