I haven't moved on from my integra, nor do I plan on it for a long time. I had 2 civics before my GSR, both 94 coupes. One I swapped a b18 into but it still just isn't the same. I can't see myself changing cars for quite a while.

i think it might have to do with the "first car" factor. i really miss my 94 ls even though i now drive an 00 gsr. it just has that extra bit of sentimental value.

My first car was a base model 1989 Camry 5-speed. Drove that for 5 years, then got my Integra. So 11 years later I'm still on my 2nd car, the Integra, and do not miss one second of that Camry... although it would be nice to have 4 doors again. But that's about it.

yeah it must be the "first car" thing that comes into play. my dads celica is a 2004, it has no power at all... wish they put there own vtec system in it...just feels hella weird driving that thing man.

they did. the celica GTS has VVTL-I. The GT has VVTi (1ZZFE motor 130-140hp). VVTL-i stands for variable valve timing with LIFT and intelligence. The GTS crossover is like 6kish. It's got 185hp...and the crossover is just like VTEC. It's called the 2ZZFE. This motor was also in the Matrix XRS and the corolla XRS. Unfortunately, the MR-S got the 1ZZFE.
Same block...different head.

.....I worked at toyota for a while lol

meh...GSRs are cool, i guess. I like mine a lot as an all around car. It's my daily driver. So that means stock height with a few bolt ons that you never notice till you step on the gas. And even then you dont really know lol. I like that it's quiet, and low key.

HOWEVER...i miss my 99 5 lug b16a etc etc hatch. The GSR was a replacement for that car....long story. I guess that's why im so "meh" towards the GSR. That and I have an S2000 lol.

The GT-S actually had a 2ZZ-GE engine. The G means each camshaft has its own cam gear driven by the timing belt (or chain). F-type engine heads had only one cam gear, usually on the intake camshaft, and the exhaust camshaft was driven by internal scissor gears, which meant the exhaust camshaft spun in the opposite direction from the intake camshaft. It also allowed for a narrow valve angle, which is better for economy.

Almost all Toyota engines these days use F-type heads, which I like to call "fake" DOHC engines because you can't adjust the intake and exhaust timing independently of each other with adjustable cam gears, like you can if each camshaft has its own cam gear.

it's a crappily tuned engine imo. each shift drops you out of vvt. it's almost like dropping out of boost on a turbo car. that engine has nothing under 6200.

imagine raising your gsr vtec crossover to 6200 and you sort of get an idea of what that engine is like.

my first car was a dc4, and i loved it. Then I got an ef, and while its clean and all, it still just doesn't compare. Idk what it is, but now that I have a dc4 again, that "feeling" has come back...It's weird for sure.

I had my DA for 11yrs. I went from high comp to high comp nitrous to high comp turbo to low comp turbo.

I gave up with it after 11yrs and went to a Nissan 240SX SR20DET with a limited slip in the back. I much prefer it to the old DA. rwd is where the fun is but I come back here to impart my knowledge, or lack there of, to honda people.
-Rik
P.S. I'll never got back to an integra.

My first car was an EG hatch and I loved that thing, so much fun and memories, but I had to get rid of it because it was pretty beat up. Then got stuck with a 8valve SOHC Saturn for awhile and that sucked. Came across my next car 91EF hatch, the thing was so clean I loved it, but it got broken into and made me sad. Found a 92 auto DA that was missing a few thigns after being stolen but great price, got that planing to resale but decided that the B20 I was putting together would be cheaper and easier to put into the DA than the EF, so I did, along with a manual swap. Then last week a guy ran a stopsign and totalled the DA(complete driverside) that was one of the worst feelings. So now I found myself a stock 94 GSR Sedan(I couldn't go back to a SOHC Civic). Still miss the free revving and torque and everything of my B20. The GSR feels so sluggish til VTEC, but eventually after I get my money from insurance I'll be pulling the B20 out of the DA and selling it... Minus the flywheel and a couple other things. I won't get anything else than a Honda.

well...the GSR has nothing under 6k. VTEC is at 4500...but nothing happens till the butterflies open up at 6k...that's when I noticed the pull. Toyota gearing is kinda weak....but GSR gearing freaking SUCKS!! I just did a clutch and I was supposed to trade a kid my GSR trans for his B16A trans...but it never ended up happening.

What model celica are you talking about? the GTS doesn't drop out of VVTL-i, I dont believe. The GT might. Trans tuning has nothing to do with engine tuning. The 1ZZFE isnt real special, but in the MR-S it's pretty fun. Maybe it's just the car that's a ton of fun, though lol.

I always thought of celicas as girl cars. My sister has the most recent body style lol. I dont remember what year, though. I gotta say, though....the steering and suspension on celicas feels a lot nicer than a DC. Even if it is MCpherson strut up front. Celicas can be made into real nice road race cars with the right touch. I think the GTS be a serious contender against a GSR.
