when i put the car in gear you can wiggle the shifter almost like it in neutral it wont fall out but its really loose....i believe it is the bushing but im thinkin about a twm shortshifter and from wat ive heard the short shifter use bearings and not bushings....do u think that is the problem and would a short shifter solve it?...any good brand short shifter?
energy suspension replacement bushings are like 12 bucks.
and yes there are bushings near the shifter itself, but there are also two bushings you can replace on the shift linkage that will make it stiffer.

it could also be your bitch pin, i replace my shifter with energy suspension bushings but it still felt a little lose. i took out the bitch pin and replaced with a new one, my **** dont wiggle at all now.

OK, I JUST replaced the bushings with the energy suspension poly ones. When I first replaced them the shifting was REAL stiff, now my shifter moves A LOT side to side/right to left while in gear. What is this bitch pin, anyone got pics?
it's definitely not the bushings. Check out your "bitch pin" at the front of the linkage. I bet it's not all the way in.
The bushings don't have anything to do with how it moves in gear, just how the feel is when changing gears.

It depends on where the play is coming from. You have to get the car in the air and wiggle things around to determine where the play is. The two major weak points I've seen are the plastic collar bushings, rubber O-rings, and rubber thrust washers that make up the lover pivot joint on the bottom of the shift lever itself, and the spring pin (a.k.a. roll pin) that holds the shift linkage to the transmission shift shaft - sometimes people replace them with a bolt, which allows too much play.
Typically, the stabilizer rod bushings (the ones that Energy Suspension sells) aren't a big source of play but replacing them will firm up the shifter a small amount.

So it is a PIN not a bolt with a nut on it correct? Is it the pin that goes through the colar that fits into the tranny shifter fork shaft ?

I was j/k
so why you ask in the first place

It's not the bushings, it's the spring pin. You can get a new spring pin from Honda for under $2 and you can punch the old one out and put the new one in with a 3" long 1/4" drive extension and a small hammer. It takes about 10 minutes including jacking and jack-stands if you don't suck at cars.
Get a diagram of the shift linkage from Honda when you pick up your spring pin and you'll understand how to get to it, where it's located and what I'm talking about.
Done.

You mean the Fastline Performance Road Race shifter?

While it is an excellent shifter, it does have excess lateral play for a few reasons. Longitudinally it is tight. I am working on a solution to the lateral play in mine.

is it bad if your shifter is loose? i find it easier to get into gear when shifting fast.
mine is pretty loose as well just like you described .
i was thinking of getting a short shifter but i see a lot of peoples look like the one above. and it sticks out like crazy. i dont want mine that tall at all. i want it lower than mine is stock.
i dont think i could install a short shifter myself so id prolly have a shop do it but still
anyone recomend one that feels nice but doesnt stick out a thousand feet like the one above?

Shifting with that shifter is an entirely new experience, it's superior to any shift i've tried. And I've had oem w/ bushings, ebay short shifter, and now I have a skunk2 dual bend.
The fastline shifter I drove was AMAZING.
