97 (stubborn) tranny problem
I recently started to replace the clutch on my d16y8 and I've removed all the bolts hooking it to the engine but the tranny wont budge from the engine, anyone have any suggestions on removing it?
yeah, i followed this 1500 page technical guide i downloaded from the internet... it has everything on it from the exact torque specs of every single nut and bolt, and ive checked and rechecked it. not a single bolt is connecting the transmission to the engine... i think this is the first time the clutch has been changed (car has 140,000 miles) on it so im not sure whats keeping it... keep the suggestions coming guys, thank you jonathan
whetever you do, don't force things.. my guess would be you're missing a bolt somewhere...
triple check, then pry gently with a small prybar on the factory pry points.

i would assume its a bolt too... go around the transmission and make doubly sure you got every bolt off. how many bolts have you removed? i believe its either six or seven that need to be taken out.
Has the tranny ever been separated from the motor before? If not, it could just be that its being stubborn and sticking on there. In that case use, a screw driver to pry the two apart. Like everyone said, double check you have all the bolts out. I think there should be 4 bolts on the front/top, 3 in the back, and 3 smaller ones on the bottom.
