Ummmm....if you can't install a IM, then maybe we should look at what your budget really is? If you're payin someone labor, the limit of your "mods" is gonna dramatically decrease.

i dont really have the garage, tools, and time to do the work myself. i live a pretty comfortable life so labor isnt that big of a problem, unless the price is a robbery...

Justice uses pro port for all his port work, but his engine building & assembly is top notch. I have seen many engines he has built first hand, & he definately pays very close attention to detail. I build engines myself & I am very ****, but I would never even put my self in the same category as him. He is that good!

Cut exhaust valve guides for the lose!! I wouldn't recommend ANYONE go to them just due to this fact. If they are too lazy to remove the exhaust guides to port the head, what else are they too lazy to do? Ship your head to Endyn and be done with it.

I would like to first start off by appologizing (sp?) for what I am about to say and I dont want to take the thread off track.

DavidR first off you should maybe ask questions about why it was done like that before you pass judgement

Second the person/shop who performed my head work knows more about cylinder head work then you prob know about anything period. I.e. job, life, I mean anything

Third I dont usually reply to stupid post from people who dont know what the hell they are talking about but this place is getting out of hand with misinformation.

Fourth if you wouldnt sent your head to Rlz then you need to find a new hobby.

To the mods and thread starter sorry for the rant and it wont happen again.

For the loose? As opposed to for the tight? I think the word you were searching for is "LOSE".

Why? Because the exh. guide protrudes into the port how much on a BVTEC head? How much material (as a % of its whole length) is actually being removed from the guide? Doesnt running bronze guides enable you to running tighter valve to guide clearances, decreasing valve whip and offsetting any negative brought on by removing some guide material?

Or is all of this just because Larry told you it was a "no-no"?

You actually don't know exactly what is done. Your statement/conjecture/guess is made purely by "looking" at a not so revealing picture. Guides could just be shorter and not "cut". Sitting from your computer, you cannot tell for sure.

The length of the stock exhaust guide was design for a motor for X rpm and and Y hp and expected to last 200,000+ miles. This head is destined to go on a god damned nice motor build that won't see more than a couple hundred miles here and there.

Do you know how long intake guides are? Oh wait heat transfer...? Oh wait valve whip? Well there are a couple more things to balanace/counter this but no need to give it up to morons.

If you are half-way smart as you think you are need to chickydee check yoself before yo wreck yoself. I might have to add you to the retard list so you can be next to your half-cousin Liveforphysics.

Since it has a bronze guide in it I would say that Brad wasn't being lazy on that thing. People have different philosophies on that and have had different results. We haven't found any flow at all by cutting the guide....not 1 cfm anywhere, but people will argue that the difference is seen on the dyno. I leave the guide alone because of how much that valve moves at 9500rpm with a big lift cam and we haven't seen a difference on the dyno, but who's to say what is best and for what application. It is just a different approach.
