JDM gauge clusters
does anyone have any pictures on an installed JDM ITR gauge cluster lit up at night? also, does anyone have any experience with the installation of these things? i'm wondering if it's as easy as retailers say it is. thanks for the info guys. fyi i have a '98 GSR. thanks.
Ive read many different ways of installing. Unfortunatly its not as easy as plug and go. I think the best way to do it is to just change the needles. Then you keep your MPH and miles driven while getting the yellow glow needles. The backround is the same color as USDM.
I accadentaly bought a 98-01 JDM ITR cluster off ebay, and I'm not sure what I've gotten into. Will it work on the USDM ECU? I don't care about kilometers or the odometer, I just want it to work, and of course, look bling bling.
I actually have one for sale right now.. IM me if interested.. 18-19k kilos IIRC. To make it work in any Teg do this.
1. Take out stock USDM gauge cluster.
2. Remove black plastic cover from white "frame" on USDM cluster. (three screws and some clips all around)
3. Remove all gauges from USDM cluster.
4. Remove fake CF plastic cover from white "frame" on JDM cluster (three screws and some clips all around)
5. Remove gauges from JDM cluster.
6. Install JDM gauges into USDM white "frame".
7. Install either USDM or JDM plastic cover.
8. Install in car.
Now if you want the USDM odometer on the JDM gauge face you can take off the needles and swap faces, that way the ODO stays correct and needle (assuming you isntall it correctly) will point to the normal speedo's markings so it will be WAY off on the face but if you remember that 40 was there, 60 was there, etc you'll be fine, or just base speed on RPM..

Or you could use tape and make your own speedo markings, right Dave?

My friend tried to run a 00 ITR cluster in his 95 GSR, and it worked, except the fuel gauge didn't work and the 'door open' icon was constantly on.
He ended up just using all the ITR gauges and put them in the background and bezel of his GSR cluster. Now it works fine.

like I posted (and Mike's friend did) just swap the gauges. Easy, no hassle, no ******* around and cutting up the motherboard and soldering jumpers, just 10 minutes of time.
But, TRY the cluster first, it might work, it will vary depending on the year/trim level you have and which year/trim level cluster you are trying to use.
I was reading somewhere that if you hook up the JDM one to a USDM car that the odo works in mph... anyone else?

It should. You have to remember that most of these parts come from wrecked ITR's in Japan and prob from a salvage yard so it really depends on the condition of the cluster. I have a 1995 JDM ITR (non-airbag) cluster in my 97 GSR and all gauges worked fine.
SO will this cluster from a 98-01 JDM ITR work in my 00 ITR as a direct swap, providing the cluster is really from the car it is supposted to be from?
94-97 JDM cluster => 94-97 USDM integra
98-01 JDM cluster => 98-99 USDM integra
The cluster will not read in MPH, only KM/H. On USDM and JDM cars the VSS signal is the same. The mechanism that moves the needle is made to read only in KM/H.
Well i bought a JDM cluster with the Mugen speedo.My fuel does not register,what do i need to do?.Everything else works fine except that.
-Dave, who is amused by people that don't read.
good enough. I sorts want it to read in KPH, If I'm going to have a JDM part, It's gotta be JDM, anything worth screwing up is worth screwing up right.

Is there some sort of special tool or procedure for taking out the gauge needles? I've been trying to pull off the yellow needles off my JDM cluster, but I get to the point that I feel like I'm going to break the thing. Should I just stop being a wuss and pull hard until it pops off?
