Default just started my new motor

smoke is comin from it, but im thinking it may be the grease from our hands burning off? only thing with that is, it starts as soon as the car starts, wouldnt it need a little time to heat up then burn grease off? its white smoke. any ideas?

also, the clutch is just pushing only toward the floor and i gotta use my hand to pull it back.. i saw another post about this but i dont think he just did a swap etc so it may be different? also, i dont have brake fluid to refill the clutch but we at first thought it was tranny fluid ..... will it be okay?

you need to bleed your clutch so there is preesure for the pedal to return. and what motor ae you running. running lean will cause it to smoke a little. and is the smoke coming form the exhaust or jst from the engine bay

ok, i know its real newb but how exactly should i bleed the clutch? the motor is from hmotorsonline, the equivelant of the d16y7 - it just says ZC on the block. the smoke is comin from my exhaust manifold

if smoke is coming from the exhaust manifold, chances are it's just from your grease hands, or oil leak from the valve cover gasket. is there any oil on the head?

also you said you add tranny fluid where the clutch fluid goes. please, please tell me you didn't do this.

to bleed the clutch top off the clutch m/c USE ONLY DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID open the bleeder on the slave cylinder (on clutch housing) have a friend push the clutch to the floor close the bleeder. Your friend will have to pull the clutch pedal back up. Top off the m/c and repeat until all air is out of the system. As you start to build pressure in the system you will see the clutch fork start to move.

Edit: If you put trans fluid in you need to take all the lines off flush them with brake fluid and hope that you didn't do any damage to the slave or master cylinder

yeah, but his problem with the clutch is not so much that he has to bleed it, but he added tranny fluid instead of clutch fluid.

this is what i am understanding, added tranny fluid instead of clutch fluid. so how would he go about removing the tranny fluid, being that it is thicker than clutch fluid.

remove the lines and either replace them or flush them out

yeah, now the OP job has became harder. those lines are not easy to replace once the motor has been installed. as for flushing (which might sound like the simplest way) what do you suggest?

I would disconnect the lines at both the mc and sc use a blow gun and compressed air to force as much of the fluid out as he can then maybe use brake cleaner to rinse the lines out. He really has made the job a lot harder and has more then likely trashed the seals in the mc and sc

just openb up the bleeder screw and have someone kepp pumping and pour brake fluid in while thats happening. always keep the fluid full at all times. if you go through a whole bottle it should flush all the other fluid out
