When I turn on my A/C it makes a "clunking" noise from the engine/compressor area. Almost everytime it does this when I turn it on from sitting overnight. It does NOT make the noise if I recently used the A/C.

I checked the Low Side pressure and it's within normal range.

I've heard of this on other cars as well.

 

My mother 2003 V6 does it to. I think the noise is normal, it just the A/C clutch engaging.

 

Has it been doing that on the car for a while now?

I'm just wondering if it trully is something that's not damaging anything.
