91 honda accord vtec problem
Hi i have a honda accord that i put a h22a motor in. The question i have is how to get the vtec to work. Now in the car is the ECU from the motor. A friend told me to ground the vtec and run a wire from the ECU to the vtec and it would work. But i don't want to damage the motor because i paid alot for it on ebay. Thanks for reading.
Who exactly installed this? Ground the vtec?? Run a wire from the ECU to the vtec?? The wiring between the ECU and the VTEC solenoid should have been part of the engine harness, and taken care of by the person who accomplished the wiring. If that wasn't done, as it so seems, then you might have other issues to consider before "grounding vtec."
I install the motor in the car because this is my project car. The motor did not come with a wire harness. i used the 91 accord harness. The car runs, but there is no vtec and the check engine light is on and idels a little rough when cold. thanks for reading.
okay first off... is the h22 obd1 or obd2? your accord should be obd1 hopefully h22 is the same. all you need is a h22 ecu or buy a chipped p28 from phearable.net thats what makes the vtec work. now even with the correct ecu you need to run a wire from the ecu to the vtec solenoid. i do not know what the pin location is i forget, but there is a writeup on cb7tuner.com. there is also a ghetto way for the time being, and that is take the wire on the vtec solenoid and hook it to a toggle switch that goes straight to the battery you can use the current ecu...push button vtec!! your ecu will not run the h22 motor as well as it would run if you get the right ecu due to the difference in air fuel ratios. i would definetly get the chipped p28
