Wrong Oil, Please help!
I brought my car to The dealership and had my oil changed. They used mobil 1 5w-20, but I have an 07 Si (requires 5w-30). Will this affect my car? I haven't drove it any where only back from the shop. And can I drive with this oil?
A lot of dealers are making this mistake. Most hondas use 5w20 but the newer cars are supposed to get 5w30. It wont have anything too terrible under regular driving (by regular i dont mean hard driving) Take it back and tell them to put the right oil in. It's their mess up, make them fix it.
you'll be fine. but you should go make them change it out
same thing happened to me. I made them save the empty bottles of Honda oil for me in the correct 5W30

Oh and yeah youll be fine just dont redline it and push it to hard and go do another oil change and be right in front of them when they do it.

Only problem is, if you DID mess something up, you're SOL because warranty isnt going to cover your screw up. If they put something in my motor wrong and it craps, i will make them replace it.

can't really screw up an oil change. if you can't do that then you shouldn't attempt to do anything else on your vehicle.

happend to me too... dealership told me it was a computer error, but they assured me they put the right stuff in... they even offered to redo it right in front of me ... which i did... i really didnt believe them when they told me they're computers were not updated yet...2nd oil change i got they told me before hand that it would be wrong on the reciept..... so if anything brakes i got proof its dealer error...
10 w30 wont hurt you...but 5 w30 will, if you live at a very hot state such as texas or nevada...coz 5 w30 has a thinner viscosity...5 w30 oil becomes more thinner during engine operation and when temperature starts to rise...but out here in cali 5 w30 and 10 w 30 are pretty much the oil that people uses..coz its not that hot during summer and not that cold during winter..

what??
the car calls for 5/30; it's going to be fine using the factory suggested oil no matter where you live in the US. why would you suggest otherwise?
OP, 5/20 is not going to hurt A THING...granted, the principle is what this should be about, that they didn't put the right thing in and you paid for that, but the oil winter weight difference will not affect anything.
