Honestly I think these things are pointless and fail to see why all the hype that follows these thing around. Shelby Cobra replica > that P.O.S.

Fun to drive factor, the Atom should be the winner.

Well depends what your definition of fun is. I'll take a torque monster big block over a 4-cylinder powered go-cart personally.

The Atom with its power/torque to weight ratio is off the charts! It will destroy a Shleby Cobra in every way.

Dude are you on drugs right now? You realize a 429 powered Cobra weighs next to nothing and overpowers this thing in every way right?

How much can you get a decent cobra replica for? And how much do they weigh?
You don't need a 'torque' monster in something so light, it already has traction problems. But the shelby replicas definitely have it beat in looks. I'd go for one of the daytona coupe replicas myself.

That's something I've wondered. It's a phenomenal engine, though. They used the euro spec k20 over there, so it wouldn't pass here. But you'd think they could more easily swap the US spec ones in the body, same mounts and everything. who knows.
The ecotec one has a 5 speed, does the k20 powered one have a 6 speed?

Different strokes for different folks. All of these things are kit cars, so you can make em as fast as you want.
I'm more concerned with which car is safer.

The Cobra may make more power, but the power to weight ratio favors the Atom. The Atom will out accelerate, out brake and out handle the Cobra, badly.

The one I drove last week was a 302 powered car and it goes for and a turnkey goes for just shy of 30K IIRC. Weight depends alot on motor. They are aluminum bodies and are less than 2000lbs.

Even Shelby himself admitted the Cobra was a cobble-job. The chassis was so flexy the only way to overcome with increasing tire width to such ridiculous proportions. It looks cool and goes fast, and I'm sure it's fun to drive once in a while, but I prefer the Atom.
And the Ecotec, regardless of what you th ink of the Cobalt, is a GREAT motor. Don't confuse the characteristics of the car for those of its motor.

The Atom weighs about a 1000lbs, depending on the engine, K20 or Ecotech. Its pure physics. It really isn't even a fair comparison.

I highly doubt an Atom will out accelerate a Cobra but I'm not sure of the Atoim specs.

I suppose you may be right but I hate that it's even referred to as a "car". It's not.

ATOM > SHELBY IMO... but thats only because I favor turns and not striaghtaways.
