Default I need a K tranny GURU!

When I'm shifting up into 2nd gear, I feel a grind in the gear eventhough my foot is all the way down on the clutch. it doesn't happen for any other gear, not even when I'm downshifting into 2nd. I did notice that if I let the rpm's go down then sift it into 2nd, it doesn't happen. I dont' think my clutch is wearing out since it's only happens at 2nd gear but I'd hate to hear the news that my 2nd gear is going out. Please help! I'm new to K's and HT. Thanks for any kind of positive help. This forum has helped me get to know my car more.

The synchro is going bad. Does it do it if you shift (up) into second at the exact rpm it should be at when the clutch is out?

2nd gear is notoriously weak on the DC5. There was a TSB for it from Honda.

check out the 2nd gear grind petition on clubrsx. Its a common problem, and its something most of us are going to have to live with because its going to be hard to get warrenty work out of acura. Your probably gonna notice a 3rd gear wall, and ocasional popouts also. At first it bothered me, but now i am used to it i am just gonna live with it.

I have the same problem.. maybe worse. To shift from 1st to 2nd I have to use an incredible amount of muscle.. from 2nd to 3rd, It would simply not shift.. I had to let the car roll a lil the force 2nd gear out then into 3rd.

I took it to the dealership yesterday and Im wating to see if the warranty covers it. I only have 2 months with the car, so hopefully they will fix it under the warranty.

good look with your situation, I let you guys know how mine ends up.

SInce it's a common problem, does it mean that it's an issue that can be ignored or does that mean that I go ahead and just baby 2nd gear and apparently 3rd as well? I'd hate to ignore the issue then have my tranny fall out when I shift into 2nd. Thena gain at the same time, i'd hate to be worried about it when there's nothing to worry about. I tried reading up on the issue at ClubRSX but all they had to say was the fact that all of them had that problem. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE HELP. Now that I know I'm not the only one with the problem, I can feel more comfortable with driving it.

Have you change the tranny fluid yet? It is not going to fully fix the problem but change the tranny fluid.

For real though, change your tranny fluid. It helps a bit. Personally I suggest gm synchomesh or amsoil mtf. But theres others, just do some research

Hopefully you get a nice solution for yours. I took mine into the dealership monday and they just call me today to put me on a 22 situation. check this out:

- the diagnostic (how ever you spell it) says there is a transmission problem, but it needs to be taken apart to figure out what exactly is. If is covered by the warranty, I dont have to pay a cent.

-By taking the tranny out of the car, Im looking at $440 dollars in labor if the warranty dont cover whatever is wrong with it.

- The only way to find out if im covered or not is "gambling" $440 dollars out of my poket or $1,200 to completly fix it.

well, thats what they have told me so far. I told them to go ahead and take the tranny apart to check it, if Im not covered, well... pay the $440 and take mi car out of there in a tow truck. fix it when I get the money.

sorry for jacking your post, But I think it might be helpfull for others with this problem.

I have the same problem in mine with 2nd to. Also, I was coming back from Nashville about 2 months ago and I was cruising down the interstate when my car kicked itself out of 5th gear. My friend has been having the same issues with his tranny.

I think the 02's are the worse. I drove my friends '05 and i didnt notice it as much, tho it was a little notchy. Just something we're all gonna have to learn to live with, cuz even when i shift slow as all hell, it still show a little resistance.

RECALLLLLLLLLLLL We should all set a date and everyone with a dc5 or an eps go down to their local honda dealership and let em know that we're not happy about it. IMO.

ive herd of people changing their tranny fluid to synthetic-based early before they experience any grind issues. and their transmissions seem to be fine. Early as in like when the car only has 5k on it.

02 with 116,000 miles. No crunching. When it's cold out, it can be a little notchy. But it warms up and is fine.

I do question the clutch... I never really have liked it. The full engagement seems to occur in about 1" out of 7" of travel.

well, my problems were all solved.... I think you guys should try the same (if you have warranty).

Dealership called me yesterday to tell me its all set, they will replace 1st, 2nd and all the sychros (something call gear set) for only $100 dollars deductible. not bad at all for a brand new tranny (almost).

they said they found somenting wering out inside the tranny and that with the time just got worse, so they are replacing everything.

good look, and I think you should take it to the Dealership to see if it works out for you.
