Default PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the acura dealership to get an oil change today and after they did it they told me that my:

1. Right side outer cv boot is torn
2. my brake master cylinder is leaking
3. oil pan gasket is leaking
4. S.R.S light is staying on(i already knew about this)
5. A.B.S light is staying on(this just happened recently, which i knew about)
6. My cam plug is leaking(i knew about this too)

Now i have 180K miles on my car and its a 1996 LS, i dont know what to do with this car, cuz im gonna keep on getting problems and its gonna cost me alot to get these things fixed, i dont if i should get them fixed or just sell my car, my car is probably worth like $3500.

Wanna know something cool integracura...... its a car.. they all need MAINTENANCE.

If you sell this car and get another you'll have maintenance on that one as well. Welcome to ownership of a car. If you get those items fixed they won't be problems for a long time.

If you want to get away from "maintenance" go buy a new car with a warranty. You'll still have maintenance but most of that stuff would have been covered.

Sell it. Dont listen to anyone else. You dont know how to work on cars and its going to be a big money pit for you. If you knew how to work on cars and find cheap parts you could have everything fixed for cheap, but you dont know this kind of stuff, so you would be better off buying a newer car requiring less maintnance.

I agree with this guy, if you had the know how or had someone who could teach you then it would be worth it, but paying a shop for all of that plus buying the parts isnt worth it. Just sell it and get a new car that will have less issues.

if you can do it yourself, fixing those problems wont be too big a problem. if you dont feel comfortable doing this kind of work, it will cost you. good luck.

3. buy a new gasket & just replace it with a friend
4. Take your cluster off and take out the bulb. no more lights staying on
5. take your cluster off and take out the bulb. no more lights staying on
6. buy a new one & just replace it with a friend
(take off valve cover, and 1 bracket holding it down. it pops out, you pop new one in, valvecover back on. Complete) I just bought a cam plug for 25 shipped .

the way it sounds like yea you should sell it. but pricing all that together if you do all the work, it'd be only about 2-3 hundred dollars. which is pretty damn good.

fixing these problems will probably make for better sale of the car. you loose some potential customers who will turn away if repairs are needed. so you'd probably end up selling the car for a whole lot less. try to sell it as is first, if you don't get decent offers, fix it up and then sell for a bit more.

That's really ethical. What if the faulty SRS causes a fatality because an airbag didn't deploy as it should have. Are you prepared to face manslaughter charges?

This is why you turn the key to the run position to check the presence/functionality of all cluster bulbs when you purchase a car.

How about this for 4 and 5: pull the SRS and ABS codes like you would for a CEL. The procedure is the same . The codes are linked in the Integra FAQ thread. Fix the problems.

imo, take out the lights. its their fault for crashing if they do.

That clearly constitutes fraud and opens you to both civil liability and criminal prosecution.

So if another driver crosses the center line and strikes the car in question with a disfunctional SRS and the occupants are injured or die because of the reduced protection, is it still their fault for crashing?

The CV joint and the master cylinder should be addressed. The oil leaks are nuisances.
