how to get a job in a performance shop?
so i'm just wondering.. i love doing motor swaps and anything custom.. and theres more i'd like to learn.. but how do you go about getting a job at a performance shop? there aren't too many around here.. also is going to school for something? better.. i'm not really to sure what class you could even take for it. if anybody has any tips let me know! i'd love to be installing a turbo on a badass car! haha.. anything!
I work for a performance shop. I kept on buggin the owner until he gave me a job there. I work on hot-rods/ install audio-video(ghey
) all day.
I've been friends with the owner's son for a long time so I got lucky.
Schooling wise I only have an Associates applied science degree in automotive technology. Do you have any experience?

Go to college. 95% of everyone on this site would love to install top of the line parts that other people pay for to have installed on their sick builds. It takes years of hard work behind a desk to succeed in rising above every other guy with a wrench and a dream.
Apply YOURSELF...Go to school. Get good grades. Get a degree. Go apply.

well this is what im doing.
first i got into the scene. (pretty much how it all starts)
second: went to the stores i liked.
third: started talking w/ employees/owners. (became friends w/ them)
fourth: now im getting all my parts @ cost (still cant afford them, cause im a poor university student) and i could get a job, if i could organize it around my schedule for school.
fifth: im taking AST (automotive service techninian) @ sait, (post secondary) in canada.
future:
sixth: get my apprenticeship
seventh: eaither go to italy, to learn how to work in highend cars, or work @ at my friends tuning shop to get experience
eighth: open up my own shop.
so best thing to do, is become friends/know the people, than after knowing them for a while, ask if they will hire you. because people like hiring people they know, before some person w/ a resume.
