Default Garrett T3 Super 60 .42/.63?

what do you guys have to say about this turbo, i searched but dident come up with any real answers. Im thinking about getting this turbo for my gsr. Not looking for crazy power seeing as though it is my daily driver and ive been an all motor guy for a while now but i want to go boost. I have a stock 98 gsr with 168k that still runs good without any problems and 180psi compression across the board. what do you guys think? I need some help now that im getting into the FI scene

The Super 60 is a good little turbo. It is significantly smaller than the turbos most people run on stock GSRs, but dont let that sway your decision. You could make 300whp and have a VERY streetable setup w/ that little turbo screaming under the hood....w/ that turbo, a GM3bar is a MUST. If you're looking for any more than 300whp, get something bigger....but you can always upgrade

Good turbo for daily in town driving especially if you want to rip the tires little bit. I would not recommend bigger if you want something just to play with and have some fun with.

i dont know what your budget for the turbo is, but if you like the fast spool and want something small, you could look into the GT28rs...its going to be a lot more than the Super 60 though...

ill be honest, i think it might be too small. you will atleast have to get a 2 or 3 bar map sensor, 10 psi on that turbo will more than likely only net you mid 200s.

i have a friend with a 140k mile stock gsr, using a t3t4 57 trim with the .63 exhaust. he hits his boost of 8.5 psi at like 3500 rpms and it creeps 9.5 or so pounds at redline. imo thats plenty responsive for the street. you dont want the car to wiind up going on boost everywhere you drive

who cares what psi you have to run the Super 60 at to make 300whp.....the power is the same if its on 10psi or 25psi. I say go w/ the Super 60 because it'd be a blast on the street

oohhhh thats not so true... lets say a car with 350 whp at 25 psi and another 350 at 10 psi... everything else being equal, what car would be faster down the 1/4? btw remember that 350 whp is on a single dyno run on a single gear.

In general, the car running more boost will be faster - given they both have perfect traction. Reason: the high-psi turbo is smaller, will spool faster, and HISTORY has show that means a WIDE powerband. It will also usually drop off torque faster, meaning it likely has a much higher peak torque number lower in the rpm's. Key is "everything else is equal".

The .42 AR # might be a tad small for this turbo (a .60 is availible), but I'm guessing this is from cheapturbo.com. You can hit 300whp on this turbo with slight mods, big exhaust, and 15-17psi. I wouldn't run that pressure on a high-compression JDM Hype-R, but with the right tuning - its possible. Very quick spool for a 300whp turbo - FUN street car. Remember, Ford found this enough for a 2.3L, so it will be fine for a good 1.8L honda.

sorry no thats a 60-1 pronounced sixty dash one

look on atpturbo.com their t3 high performance turbo is a garrett version of the T3 super 60. the T3 super60 is acutally a turbnetics turbo that they deemed " the super 60" garrett does not call their version the super 60, instead the high performance 60 trim

spools quick, and prob a nice compliment to the GSR Motor VS the t3 super 60 at 10 psi itll make 240 WHP as witnessed on a few customer vehicles.

the everything else is equal is the end all be all for the argument... even applying to turbo lag...

and a wide power band is so overrated in drag racing... remember 1/4 mile its what we are talking about.

even with the lag taken out of the equation of the all equal, why would i want a 6k powerband if i only use 3 - 2.5k powerband when racing?

and now to the OP...

just use a regular 60 - 63 std or stg3... u would see almost full boost by 4k... and i dont think u will ever go that low racing

Not everyone builds a car STRICTLY for the track. There are a good number of us who like to have a powerband on the street. I personally love that my turbo gets full boost on the street at about 3800rpm and holds through redline. I'm still voting for either the Super60 or the T3/T04e 50 trim .63ar

even b16's spool 60 - 63's fully at about 4krpm... the last ls vtec i did with a drag manifold spooled a similar turbo as down as 3300 from the log on the ecu...

Had a turbonetics t3 supser 60 DBB and that lil sucker worked wonders ... Amazing turbo for a street car looking to make 300 whp relaibly...

Then Mr. Lambert(few threads up) wanted to run her all out all the time 18psi pump gas and blew up a spark plug and it went bye bye... Still made 364 whp pump gas...
