Default Allmotor.. Transmission Help H22

Went racing yesterday..

i was trying to shift my car at 8500RPM (car makes over 250WHP 200Torque)

1st, 2nd, no problem 3rd i couldn't slap it in.. I had to wait for it to drop to aleast 7000 RPM. to put the gear in

Im using a sponsored bully clutch stg 5.

I was wondering if it's that clutch.. Also at high 8000-8800 RPM the clutch petal feels really light.

I don't think it the tran because if it go hard shifting up to 7400RPM all the gear go in nice

Let me know what you think?

H22 transmissions are noted for having a difficult high rpm engagement (not all, but some). You can try to ziptie the two shifter cables together every 6 inches (to remove any slack).

Or switch out to a B series transmission, hence the H2B comment.

What clutch and flywheel combo are you using,we run a H22a powered ALLMTR car here in Australia and are shifting at 8800rpm without any problems using the H22 gearbox.

This is for a drag car.. I converted to the cables to rods thinking it would resolve this problem.. But that didn't do anything

How did you convert the cables to rod linkages?

random thought

what if the actual shifter was lengthened, on the bottom that goes underneath the car.. would that make it push a bit farther, easier to get it into gear..

I dont konw..

hard to believe a 250whp hseries racer has never heard of h22 trans being difficult to shift???? or just in general being crap. i could tell ya that when i was 16 and rocking a factory f22 that didn't like to shift at 6300

i am on trans no. 7, that is on its 2nd case & 2nd set of cables

inspect your master cyl. mine went dry, slam 3rd--HARD at 8k when it didn't to go in and did this (bent clutch which ate the fly wheel, sounded awsome)
also have as much slack as possible, i re-ran through the inside of car for MUCHO slack

h2b the ****

if you want a good shifting h22 tranny get an F20B tranny. those are made to shift at higher rpms. H2B would be the most cost effective way of solving your h22 tranny woes. it really helped our race program! good luck!

no problems shifting at 8500 here

i would recommend adjusting the master cylinder and pedal stops to suit your racing needs.

I would reccomend a twin disk clutch, single disks just don't get the job done at that rpm.

Just forget it, you don't understand what I am saying. I'm going to go machine my own and make it a few mm longer, see what happens.

what do you mean? if the car wants to go forward than you are experiencing clutch disengagement problems and that would explain quite a bit.

The prelude master cylinder is bigger than the civic one, if your civic master is not working 110% perfect than you could face clutch disengagement problems. I've tried to bring this topic up in the past but it goes nowhere. *shrug*

the ONLY time i've ever had issues with my h-series tranny was when I fucked with the clutch disengagement point. Other than that I've never understood what all the fuss was about.

All it takes is a couple of runs of trying to force the car into gear and your tranny syncs an gears could be done. I learned that lesson last year..
