Default 2004 Honda Accord Drivers side air conditioner not working!

My wife has a 2004 Honda Accord loaded with everything on it and the air conditioner on the drivers side is not blowing cold air. The passenger side blows cold air just fine but the drivers side does not. The car has a little over 55,000 miles on it. I have checked all of the fuse and they were all okay. Does anyone have any idea what it might be and what it might cost to have it fixed?

Jerrod

Edit: It has the V6 engine.

This info. is for a 2004 Acura TL; however, it may be similar since the Acura and Honda generally share the same chassis and some components.

The problem sounds related to the Driver's Air Mix Control. This can be due to the following:

- Air mix control motor
- Air mix control linkage or door sticks or binds
- Climate control unit is bad.

Not sure if the Accord has this feature; but, probably does (give it a try).

To see if there is a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC):
1. Turn the Ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Press and hold the OFF button on the climate control unit. While holding the OFF button, press the recirculation button five times within 10 seconds. Release the OFF button and the self-diagnostic will begin.

The termperature indicator will display the DTC. (Driver side for driver side related, passenger side for passenger side related.) If there is a problem the temperature indicator will light up the segment (A through S) corresponding to the error.

The termperature indicator will then alternate every second between displaying "88" (all segments lit) and the error code (A through S). If no problems detected, the segments will not illuminate.

3. To turn self-diagnostic off, turn off ignition switch.

Post the DTC on this forum.

If it turns out to be the Driver side Air Mix Control Motor, remove the driver's lower dashboard cover. Disconnect a 10p connector from the driver mode control motor, and disconnect a 5p connector from the air mix control motor. Remove the 3 self-tapping screw, and remove motor. Installation is reverse order of removal, just make sure pin on motor is properly engaged with linkage.

I wouldn't know the costs for repairs. Replacing the Air Mix Control Motor is very easy if it turns out to be that.

Tried that and nothing happened. It has the navigation unit in it. Not sure if that makes a difference.

In the following link, #7 is the driver's air mix control motor:

Try this:
Remove the driver side lower dash cover, and locate the air mix control motor. Play with the climate controls and see if you can tell if this motor is functioning.

Maybe you can find a place with CAN OBD-II to see if there is a trouble code too. That's all the ideas I have now.
