I have a B16A w/a J1 tranny...I have roughly maybe 100,000 miles on this motor w/the factory clutch...lately when I'm at a light it has a hard time getting into 1st..and when I downshift to 3rd i almost have to force it in...sometimes it won't even go into 3rd...it shifts fine once it's in motion from 1st-5th but,down shifting or being at a stop it's sometimes has to be forced...so im sure it's time for a new clutch

 

If you have to let the clutch pedal almost all the way to the top before it grabs then you most likely need a new clutch. Not sure what the J1 tranny is, is it hydro?

 

The J1 trans came from the 88-91 J-spec Acura XSi...and I think the J-spec 88-91 CRX Si...I think the LSD was optional back then...cause some of the XSi's came with them...but,yeah...when my cars in motion it shifts fine...but,when im at a stop it's hard to get in first..sometimes I slowly cruise to the stop light with the clutch in and it slowly catches first...but once I let off the clutch it does it again..
