A sad day in the bike world....
Sunday September 16, 2007 12:45pm
Ok I wake up in the morning around 10:00am. Smoke A cigarette, and get busy making phone calls. My friends and I made plans to go Quad riding the night before. My friend shows up at my house at 11:15am, so I threw on my gear, and out the door we went. We stopped at the local gas station to fill up on gas and snacks for the ride. We left the gas station and were on are way to another Friends house that was ridding with us.
from here on out it gets a little nasty
We pull into my buddys back yard. Just as we shut off our quads we hear tires squealing very loud. I turn my head to see what was going on. The next thing I know I hear the unforgiving sound of metal on metal crashing together!!
If you were ever in a car wreak before then you know what I am talking about.
Well The metal crashes to a split second to happed the next thing I know I see a motorcycle flying up into the air at least 6ft. off the ground! There was a car coming around a blind turn at about 60-70mph. The car just clipped the side of the bike. Then another crash was heard by the ears of my friends and I. After the driver who hit the bike proceeded around the corner still on full momentum, just to hit another car head on.
I myself ride a bike and whenever i saw the bike flying threw the air my hear stopped!
Suddenly I hear screaming that will live in my mind for years to come.
I start up my quad and take off as fast as I can to get to the screaming people.
I look down and see an old couple that have probably been married for 30 years, taking one last bike ride before the season is over. So I look at them to see if they are ok, and then I see it a trail of blood 6 inches wide making its way across the road. I look to see were the blood is coming from, and her led is destroyed.
her leg was missing from about 3 inches above the knee. being held on by a thread of skin. As she screams for help her husband grips her hand ever so tite not just like he was hanging on to her but hanging on to her soul! His legs were twisted in a pretzel like way.
With out thinking I scream to my friend to grab a belt out of his house, as to cut off blood flow from the shatterd remains of what once was a leg.
As I bring the belt over to the lady a phone flys at me. "here its 911 tell them what happened" So I jump on the phone and give them the position of the accident and the status of the couple on the road.
At this point I could relay careless about the people in the cars, witch by the way were unharmed.
So the next thing I know I see the paramedics coming up the road so I threw the phone and went strate back to the couple on the ground. So now I am trying to clam down the bikers and keep them awake at the same time. The perimetcs jump out of the ambulance and walk over to the seen by this time there is a river of blood running across the road. So I tell the paramedics they need to put on a turnacit right now, and then he looks at me and says "Its ok life flight will be here soon."
So I thought to myself ok here we go.. So I walk over to the other perimetc and tell her the same thing, she ignores me and just stand there watching this lady bleed to death!
I have had alot of first aid training over the years in scouts and for the mine.
The first thing you always treat a victim for is head and neck injuries! unless there is an very bad wound and the bleeding needs to be stopped right away..
So they star at her bleeding on the side of the road for about 5 minutes, and then decide to put a neck brace on her, not even treating for shock and or her leg. so then the life flight gets there, and they take her away from her husband's side and he lays the by himself wondering what was going to happen to her.
then they take him in the ambulance..
One of the cops there said she is as good as dead.
I am waiting on tomorrows paper to finish the story...

Last summer (2006) I watched two people die in a car accident as I waited for paramedics to reach our remote location, although I was able to save one person. I also held my friend on the side of the road while he passed away after a motorcycle accident.
Make sure first of all that the people involved in the accidents are getting the care they need, then make sure you tend to yourself... these events can mess you up mentally. If you need anybody to talk to, PM me.

At least you know you did what you could at the time..Sorry to hear about all this. Earlier this year I had a close friend get hit head on from a car they were both going about 70, to say the least he lost a leg, half of muscle in his arm an the worst part is that his profession was tattoo artist. Things can change in a heartbeat, keep us updated on the story. Sorry again

Props to you for stepping up big time. Also, a turnicate is only necessary in cases of near or total amputation of limbs (like in this case) but direct preassure is necessary 100% of the time when there is major bleeding. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Anyways Im sorry you had to experience that, but glad you were able to help out.
Ok so far there has been nothing in todays paper, or on the news. But My father knows some of the bikers family. I guess they are both in critical condition. The male biker shattered alot of bones, and I hear that he might not make it. I swear if I ever see the person who was driving that car agian I would beat the Sh*t out of them. I know accedents happen but in this case it was totaly the drivers fault I will post some pics of the sene.
As soon as this story hits the papers I will post the artical on here.
And thanks for the suprot guys.. I tried talking to my girlfriend of 4 years about it and she could care less I guess I care so much cause I was there.

anybody who cares about you would make it their problem too, and listen and help you overcome such a dramatic event.
anybody who does not care, does not care about you and your well being.
