Default My Car Is Shaking?

Alright, so I'ma try to explain this the best I can so bear with me:

Very recently, Satuday morning, I bought a 94 Honda Accord EX Coupe with 132,024 miles. When I test drove it, it ran smooth but I had noticed that when I put in D3 the RPM's were a lil off and didn't coincide with my other 94 EX Coupe. I thought really nothing off it and assumed it was because the car had been sitting for 2 weeks without being drive and that it was something like 40,000 miles overdue for a oil change and new spark plugs. Anyways, I took the car and drove it back home. On the way I also noticed that when I would come to a complete stop the car would shake, but again I assumed it was because of the overdue tune-up and since it wasn't moved for sometime.

Well after I changed the oil and gave it some new spark plugs it was still shaking. I wasn't able to check if the RPM's were still giving me the same response as when I had drove it earlier being that I didn't want to get pulled over or anything. But like I said it was still shaking, not as much as before, but for me this was uncharacteristic because my other Coupe doesn't shake AT ALL!

So I pull my other Coupe next to the one I had recently bought and turned on the engine so that it could run and thus compare it to the new one, compare and contrast.

This is what I noticed:

- Both cars idle the same, no difference

- There is a distinct noise coming from the new car in which I am currently unable to locate

- The engine in new car is throwing out more heat but the needle on the temperature gauge is where it's supposed to be . . . so this has me baffled?

- The noises coming in the area of where the timing belt is are sluggish and ruff where as the noises from my old coupe are smooth and refine.

- Lastly like I said, the new car shakes and my old coupe don't?

I remember the guy saying that he had the timing belt changed at 100,000 miles. So I'm assuming that whoever did it didn't do it right and the timing is off thus making the car shake and hotter around the engine bay then what it's supposed to be.

Sorry for the long read, but I tried to put as much detail as possible so that you guys on here could help me pinpoint what is wrong with my new baby.

And ya I know ya'll prob. want some pics. Soon Enough, I promise :D

Hmmm, there could be many things into play that would cause this. But if it was a timing belt, I would think (if it was the cause of it) the shaking would be more consistant, than at just a stop.

About the heat difference - It could be due to old fluid in the car, and the fluid could possibly not be cooling it off properly, so personally I would suggest that you check out the cooling system for the car, as your in the process in examining your car.

I would also suggest getting the transmission checked out. Because I remember something similar to this happening. One of my friends owns a 98 Prelude, and when ever he would come to a stop, his car would just shake violently, to the point to where the front grill would shake also. Unfortunately for him, the car would die shortly after. Also, during the time of this the car would sputter. After some hard thinking, we took it in and got it checked out. Come to find out, it was the torque converter. Now, this could be, and may not be the reason for this. But it most certainly does not hurt to tie up all possibilities. I Believe there were a few other things wrong with his transmission, other than his torque converter going to ****, but anyways man-sorry for the long read, and I hope the little I suggested, helps.

Ya it helps but worries me a bit more cause what if it's worse then what I thought it was. But what would explain the high temp. when I put my head over the engine bay?

Motor Mounts all ok?

What's it idling at?

(Probably also needs a good coolant flush)

It's idling right where it's supposed to be. Like I said I had my other accord right next to my new one and they both checked out. I haven't got a chance to check the motor mounts, but I'ma get to that this weekend for sure along with checking the timing belt and I'll do the coolant flush as well.

Just for additional info, I took it to get smogged and it ran fine. I drove it around that day and it ran good with the exception of the shaking. But we'll see how everything pans out after I do what I stated above.

EGR ports. Clean them out. Autos this year are notorious for this.

Shaking and noise from the T belt cover id say check your waterpump...might be going out

chk all the motor mounts,, if broken or sagging replace as needed and test drive the car ,, .
I would do this as step 1 ,, if mounts are ok then you can chk for engine issues
