Finet tuning 4-channel amp for speakers.
Ok, here is an equipment list:
AMP: Eclipse EA4000
http://www.eclipse-web.com/amp/ea4000.html
Front Speakers:
MB Quart RVF216
http://www.mbquart.com/en/prod...f_216
Rear Speakers
MB Quart RVF164 (add a woofer)
http://www.mbquart.com/en/prod...f_164
So I have a 94 LS Teg, and so far have the passenger front and passenger rear speakers in (all I have had time for due to having to run wire through teg doors *OUCH* and make custom brackets for rear speakers)
The speakers I am using in the rear are suppose to be add a woofer speakers, meaning they are suppose to be powered and ran through their crossovers, and the ones I have in front ran off the rear crossovers and same power supply. However as noted, I am running one set up front, one in the back. This means each speaker has its own channel of the 75x4 amp.
The amp has some very nice adjustments:
A switch for Low or High Filter
A High pass crossover frequency **** 30-500Hz
A Low pass crossover frequenct **** 50-500Hz
Bass Boost 0-8dB
Level 8-0.2V
Mono On/Off switch
Here is my problem. The front speakers sound great with the high filter setting, and a little adjustment to let them hit a little bit of the lows. I want the rears to just fill the car with the mid and lower base, maybe some highs (not much)
Any suggestions on settings for the amp to optimize my Rap/Hip Hop listening experience? I have NO plans for subs, and I am amazed I even allowed myself to add this much weight with the speakers and amp.
Thanks everyone in advance, this is my first time with a 4 channel amp and such nice speakers.

Remove the rear passive crossovers and run the rear woofers directly off the amp.
With no subs you're going to want the rear speakers to play as much bass as they are capable of. Set the low pass to 38 for the rear.
Set the front to full pass and let the passive crossover handle it.
Experiment with changing the speaker phase front vs rear.

That helped some Hatch, removing the cross over. I still feel like the fronts put out so much more bass and the rears are barely even there. With the rear crossover removed and the speakers set to low, its better.
I just think that had I bought 4 of the front speakers, and left out the rear tweater, it would sound alot better. Maybe not
I also may be trying to over compensate for the other 2 speakers not being in there yet.

having a strong front stage is a good thing. for SQ its ideal that you dont have any rear speakers. with that being said...for the rears i would ditch the passive XO and run it directly off the amp as suspendedhatch mention but i would turn on the lowpass filter set to probably 100-150hz. for the fronts, keep the passive XO and set your amp to highpass and adjust the frequency based on your output level vs. distortion.

Thanks EBP_SI, I will give it a try. I think I am gonna have to get the other side installed before I can really fine tune the system.
I see in your sig you hate Audiobahn. I had 2 alumq 12's running off a memphis mono 1100 watt rms amp, and it has now won competitions in the guys 4Runner who I sold it to. Care to PM me why you hate them so much? Although I do agree with the Sony and Bose comments

how do you figure? i'm not suggesting to cross your fronts at 100-150hz. what i was suggesting was to cross them at lets say 50-60hz but that would also depend on the level of distortion as his desired listening volume. I've never heard those speakers so i'm not sure how much bass they're capable of producing and at what output level.

i would strongly advise against putting the type R's in the back. not to say that they're bad speakers but putting by a set of coaxials or components in the back and allowing high frequencies to come from the back you're going to ruin any imaging you may have.
