Spoon only made that style rims in flat black, no polished lips or any thing else...Regamaster made them in white and ?. Which I believe they are both by desmond(?).
Therefore those rims are not spoons...

It just shows you are in an unclutred car area.
There is something wrong with calling rotas spoons.
I'm the most humble and non elistest *** spoon owner I know, but saying it's the same thing is damned wrong, it's that simple.
They look alike, they both are awesome and light, but that's where it ends.

So what would you do if someone sold you some rims for $1000 (Hypothetically speaking) that he said were "Spoon rims", and you come to find out they are rotas? Would you just be like, "whatever, they are the same thing..."? Or would you be pissed?

Bluntly said, and agreed.

no, i wouldn't be a dumb *** n pay 1000 bucks for fake spoons...like i said where i live tons of people have replica spoons n not all of them are rotas...There are too many brands out there now, atleast here in jersey dat make replica spoons...so unless u have no life, its a bit hard to memorize wat every knock off brand calls there fake spoons, so we just call them spoons but we clearly know the difference between replicas n real ones cus no one has the real ones around here that i know of...

Spoon never owned the patent for the wheels that were sold as "Spoon" wheels.
The patent is owned by a Russian manufacturer, and at least three different versions of the wheels have been sold in the USDM (one of those three was Spoon).
All three versions of this specific patent would have sold for as much as $1600/set in the USDM, with sizeable discounts available to connected people.
All three versions weigh the exact same, since they are made of the same material and in the same process, although there are various finishes available other than the Spoon anodised flat black.
All versions of this patent are equally strong.
They are the same except for the finish and the marketing.

You should not say Spoon if you mean Rota. There's nothing wrong with Rotas, but there is a reason they cost $500 instead of $1600.

They were an anodised flat black when they left the factory in Russia.
However, depending on the kind of use they get, and the kind of brake dust that gets on them, the colour changes and you will find hues of blues and greens in the wheels as they age.
Also...you can break any wheel, even the vaunted Spoons.
There is a set of 16x7 +45 Spoon wheels that I put on my DC2 ITR in the Spring of 2000.
At this point, in the Fall of 2007, I can say in truth that two wheels have been broken. Both of them were a single, clean break through the middle of a spoke.
The first time it happened, I still owned the wheels and A&J Racing replaced the broken one.
The second time it happened, unfortunately, the wheels were owned by somebody else and he had to find a used one from somewhere.
Now, mind you, these are wheels that would periodically see 140 mph, and these are wheels that have been on road courses for the entire time they were on the car. They've been driven hard by many competitors in my car, including Honda Challenge champions.
I'm not saying they are prone to break, not at all.
I'm only commented to say that you can abuse any set of wheels so badly that they will break, sooner or later.
