what to do w/ the gas tank vent line????? help
i'm doing a wire tuck and its in the way. search but found nothing good or safe

i removed the charcoal cannister, and just left the vent line hanging off the end of the hard line that comes into the engine bay.at my next track day,i was having fuel coming out of it under hard braking.as a temporary fix,i ended up extending the rubber line by about a foot, and running it up to the fuel filter area so that gravity would help keep the raw fuel in there.
of course, that would go against the point of a wire tuck...i honestly don't know.why did you post this here?are you tracking the car too?i'd post on one of the several wire tuck threads to see what other people have done if you're only worried about cosmetics.i guess you could possibly use a vented gas cap,and just cap off the vent line at the tank.not sure if you'd get gas coming out of the cap vent under hard cornering or not-the cap is up pretty high in relation to the tank.

i think i got the fix for what i need. tell me what you think. i was thinkin about buying a ebay breather tank. drillin a hold in the bottem and tapping it for a fitting and attach the gas vent line to it. then drilling a bigger hole at the top for a filter. and maybe baful it w/ some steal wool.
where will you mount this at?if in the engine bay,why not just retain the very well designed OEM charcoal canister?the purpose of the wire tuck is to clean up the engine bay-but you'll just be replacing one canister with another.if you must get rid of the stock canister,i think that simply having the vent line high enough up that it doesn't overflow raw fuel, and probably have the end turned down or have a breather cap on it so it doesn't get dirt into it will be more than enough.the whole catch can/breather setup is overkill IMO.

basically
a good reason to keep the above mentioned, well designed OEM part.i don't think you'd get a very substantial amount of fuel coming out though-the line is small, the fuel has to travel all the way to the front of the car,and i have the end of the hose plugged with a stopper that i drilled a small(about 1/32")hole in....

THANK YOU!
someone that knows what i'm talking about. i think it's the safest way of going about it. after some hard braking the can might full up a lil bit and will "hopfuly" drain back into the tank. does this seem to be a good idea to others? lol maybe i'll start a new trend

dude, i was in a great mood it's just that i couldn't figure out what you were saying, and valued your reply.
no harshness intended.

some diggin right here lol. Really the only response google could find on this subject. I was told by someone to vent it out the back and higher than the tank. Think if it vents back maybe the gas wont push forward since the line is behind? What to do?
This is what I have on my race car.

and this

Mounted off the drivers side shock tower.
You can even vent your valve cover into it if you want to.
How? drill a hole into it smaller than your line at the top of the unit and push that sucker in to the bottom.
Unless your looking for something more "engine tucky"
There are "cleaner" options
You are on the right track.

Yeah I want to eliminate the line running to the front all together. Without the charcoal canister up front there really is no need to have a vent go to the front of the car. I'm thinking maybe I can run the vent up to where the fuel door is. That would be higher than the engine bay and it would be more towards the rear and completely out of the way of the exhaust and other stuff.
i feel odd replying to an old thread but jdm style is to vent it directly to the TB. the jdm itr TB and probably others have a nipple for just this reason
well I tore out my fuel line and vent line today. Put in the new -6AN braided line for the fuel (original line had a kink causing fuel cut). The gas tank vent I didnt get to but no gas was coming out of it. I just left a piece of hose turned down towards the ground on it as a temporary solution (until tomorrow). I am going to run it up as high as I can towards the fuel door.
