Hiding the Brain and Siren
On a 1991 Civic Ex 4 door, where is the best place to hide the brain and second siren? The Alarm is a Clifford Matrix 10.5x. The brain won't fit in the center console and under the dash is just too obvious.
As for the siren, I'll probably be putting it deep in the dash unless anyone else can suggest anything.

Sometimes you can squeeze it behind the gauge cluster
Personally I only do secondary sirens on the interior of the car: the primary one should be as audible as possible, and the interior isn't the best place for that

^^ what he said.. whatever you do don't mount any siren near the brain of the alarm. you can assume the thief can hear and will try to go for the siren.
I suggest you get some ramps or jack stands and look under the hood area where you can mount the siren where it won't be visible when looking down from the top of the car.

Or you can do it the easy way. Pull off the fender and mount the siren in the fender and run the wire thru the sub frame and drill into the car high in the dash. Pull the dash and mount the brain to the firewall or in or behind the blower box. I use this method all the time. the siren can not be disabled nor the alarm. If a theif can't work in quiet he is going to the next person that does not take this advice

Fender works fine, but keep in mind that if a thief can gain access to the siren easily then its not a good spot.
Thinking about the fender gets me thinking about the hood release cable, and how that is easy to access.
If you slam your car down to the weeds then your siren should be good and safe.

How would the theif be able to get the siren wire if its ran thru the sub frame. Do you think any smart person would run it with the hood cable? well maybe. The siren can be mounted in the fender high up and it can not be gotten to period or disabled. No matter if the car is slammed or stock. For the luck few that seen me do it can vouch that you can not get to it.

Its not so much the wiring, but being able to pull the siren out. they are made of plastic and not too hard to break off the bracket. If you can get it to the point were its not accessible then all the power to you.
In any case its not hard to go under the car and find a good place to mount a siren.

This is true. I have seen it done and have done it myself.

well me, ever since my last break in -
i put my new siren - which was free - used to work at as a car sales man, made friends with the installer and got a free siren!
the siren he gave me was smaller than my original dei one - i think its a cheap carsound unit or something.. whatever it was free...
i put it in the front bumper... the wire is concealed.. or at least it looks like factory wiring..
all i did was break some of the impact foam, that is inbetween the bumper support beam, and the plastic bumper, and tucked it into one of the nooks...
just make sure that the siren's opening is facing into the bumper, and not out.. cause moisture will get into it, and the siren will sound funny...

i put my siren in my fender and ran the red and black wires through a factory grommet, i ran my hood pin switch wire through the same grommet.
and then the alarm brain, and 520T backup battery is in the drivers side rear quarter panel....au94tm motion sensor is in the center console. now if i can just figure out how to wire everything up??????????

Mounting that siren under the car is not a good place. 1 is that the siren will be in a position were it will be getting hit by debri, it will get wet if driving thru the rain or anytime the car is in a wet enviroment. 2 is heat, you risk the siren failing from heat. High in the front bummper, back bummper and fender is the best place to put them. I would never put a siren in the hood unless it has a built in back up battery with a key and its mounted under the bracket like in the write up above and there is a secondary unit mounted some else like I mentoned. If you do mount in the fender run the wire thru the subframe. Its hollow. so if a theif tries to pop your hood there is no siren wire to grab. Its in the body of the frame.

LOL! Well it may not be the easiest way for someone that has never pulled out a dash, but it certainly seems like the best...

Its not mounting it under the car but under the hood from under the car, this way its not visible from above. Like under a something.
Of course you need to use common sense, you aren't going to mount it where its going to be water splash up. Its going to be higher up under the hood. and never near heat source.

Can you point out some locations? I don't see anywere in a engine bay that this would work on a honda/acura. And not get the siren to close to heat, water,or the power lead to the siren. Anything below the intake mainifold is not a good spot.

Not sure if you have a lift at your shop but if you take a look underneath there are some good places.
On older Preludes and Accords under the battery bracket seems to work well.
I have yet to have a siren fail, on my oldest its been 10 years. Maybe i'm just lucky or maybe they don't make 'em like the used to.

Not trying to bust your ***** but when it comes to security there is no tolerance for something that might not work. If it does not work or seems like it not going to work we are going to test it and point out the flaws. Now the only flaw I see against this is how you are going to run the power lead to the siren without the theif noticing the extra flex loom. Or is this going to be wired into the factory loom.
LOL.. its all good.. I know what has worked for me.
Of course whenever possible you loom it in the factory loom. PITA takes time but keeps everything neat. The whole thing comes down to keeping it invisible.
Its worked for me fine.. its isn't some best buy mount the siren on the fire wall, put the brain under the driver's side dash type of install.
for ***** and giggles i've done a dummy alarm brain under the dash along with a relay not connected to anything, or a power wire to the battery not hooked up to anything (no fuse in the fuse holder)..
You can get creative with this stuff..
