Default 00 EX, driver's side door won't lock

So all of a sudden today, my driver's side door decided that it won't lock anymore. Using the power button or the keyless, it's like it won't even try. If I try to manually force it either with the manual button or the key, it won't budge. Passenger side is working fine.

I took the door panel off, and the rods are all connected fine, but the lock rod will not move at all. I've never really heard of a latch/lock mechanism going bad on a Civic... I thought maybe a power lock solenoid might be stuck or something.

I tried getting the mechanism out to look at it, but apparently the retainer clip around the key barrel is beyond my expertise - I couldn't get it out... maybe there's a trick to it.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Do I just replace the latch/lock mechanism, or is there something else I should be looking at first?

Obvious thing here, but might as well cover it first...

Was the door open or closed when you did this? If the door is open, you must hold the inside handle open and lock it at the same time.

yeah, if it locks while holding the door handle out, then 99% i would say you need a new power doorlock actuator. it should be pretty straight foreward.

i put one in an accord a week ago, and it was a pain. but i think the civics are much easier. just be careful with all your screws, don't strip them, used quality tools, have a flashlight and maybe a mirror handy.

It's still completely frozen while holding the handle up, so I'm still thinking the latch/lock assembly. I may try swapping it out tomorrow if I can find one.

Just got it all out - definitely the lock assembly - it's not moving at all. Got one on order.

Thanks for the suggestions.
