what are the torque specs for the bolts holding the valve cover?

7.2 lbf-ft.

Tighten in 2-3 step sequence starting from the center to the outer bolts.

 

cant we just hand tighten? ... my torque wrench only goes down to 20 lb ft

For some reason the valve cover bolts strip sooo easy. I did it without a torque wrench once and I stripped almost all of the bolts without realizing it. Man did that turn into a nightmare.

 

well then i hope to god mine aren't stripped!
what do you mean you didn't realize that they were stripped? how did you eventually discover it?

 

Tried to loosen them...and they just kept turning. I don't know WTF kind of bolts they used for that cover, they are weak as hell. Oh well, I know next time not to take it off until I get a more sensitive torque wrench.
